Cash-bond refund after the case ends

Midland County states that a defendant may be eligible for a cash-bond refund after a qualifying case is dismissed or resolved. Cash bonds are receipted to the defendant. The county says the defendant should keep the original receipt, court paperwork showing dismissal or resolution, and government-issued identification.
If the case was filed in criminal court, the bond money may be deposited with the clerk of that court. If the matter was dismissed before filing or indictment, the jail may handle the refund. Confirm the correct office before travelling.

The Sheriff’s official request form says the agency has 10 business days to take the required Public Information Act action—such as release information, seek an extension or request an Attorney General ruling. That is not a guarantee that every record will be physically delivered within 10 business days.

Booking photos have special restrictions

Midland County’s current booking-photo request form is labelled for media requests. Requests must be in writing Monday–Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and include the defendant’s name, DOB and/or SPN, and the criminal charge.

The Sheriff’s form also states that booking photos for defendants not arrested by MCSO, and photos of people no longer in custody whose case did not result in a criminal conviction, will not be released through that request process.
