Galveston County Arrest Log | Daily and Recent Bookings

Galveston County, Texas · Daily Bulletin, recent arrests, inmate inquiry and court verification

Check Today’s Galveston County Arrests Without Confusing the Three Official Lists

Galveston County does not put every useful arrest detail on one screen. The Sheriff’s Police to Citizen system separates activity into a Daily Bulletin, Recent Arrests and Inmate Inquiry. Which one you should open depends on whether you are looking for an event from a particular day, a newly posted arrest, or someone who may currently be in jail.

Start with the arrest feed when you only know that someone was recently arrested. Use Inmate Inquiry when you need the booking agency, primary charge, custody-related details, bond or next court date. If the arrest happened today and nothing appears, do not assume the arrest did not happen—the Sheriff specifically warns that some events are not posted on the same day they occur.

An arrest log is not a conviction list. Galveston County P2C states that people shown on its arrest page have been arrested but were not convicted at the time of posting. Do not use an arrest entry alone to claim that a person committed the alleged offense.

Pick the screen that answers your actual question

DAILY BULLETIN “What happened on a particular day?”

Choose a bulletin date and event type. The bulletin can contain arrests, citations or summonses and other incidents.

Best when you know the approximate date but not the person’s exact booking status.

Open Daily Bulletin

RECENT ARRESTS “Who was arrested recently?”

This arrest-focused feed shows individual arrest entries and is faster than sorting a full daily activity log.

Best when someone was reportedly arrested recently and you want to scan current arrest postings.

Open Recent Arrests

INMATE INQUIRY “Is this person in the jail system?”

Search by first or last name. Results can show primary charge, arrest date and booking agency; the detail page can add bond, release and court information.

Best when you are helping one specific person after arrest.

Open Inmate Inquiry

Fastest practical sequence: check Recent Arrests → search Inmate Inquiry → save the arrest date and booking agency → verify the filed criminal case in the Galveston County court portal.

How to read the Galveston County Daily Bulletin

The official Daily Bulletin has an Event Type Filter and a Bulletin Date field. Its published key identifies AR as Arrest, TC as Citation/Summons and LW as Incident.
Open the official Daily Bulletin Go to Galveston County Daily Bulletin.
Choose the date you want Use the bulletin date rather than scrolling through unrelated activity.
Use the event filter when the page is crowded Narrow the list toward arrest-related activity instead of reading citations and incidents that do not match your question.
Look for AR entries The official key identifies AR as an arrest event.
Open the associated event when available Note the event or case number, date, agency and person involved.
Do not treat the bulletin date as proof of the exact arrest time The Sheriff expressly notes that some events may not be reported on the same day they occurred.
Move to Inmate Inquiry for custody The bulletin is an event log. It is not the best screen for determining whether someone remains in jail.
Official P2C Daily Bulletin abbreviations
Code
Meaning shown by P2C
How to use it
AR
Arrest
Start here when your goal is an arrest log or booking-related event.
TC
Citation / Summons
Do not assume every TC entry resulted in a county-jail booking.
LW
Incident
An incident can exist without an arrest.
A
Attempted
This is an event-status code, not a conviction outcome.
C
Completed
“Completed” describes the reported event status, not the criminal case disposition.
F / M
Felony / Misdemeanor
Use the court record to verify what offense was actually filed.
Important same-day limitation: the Daily Bulletin itself states that some events may not be reported on the same day on which they occurred. If a family member was arrested only a few hours ago, check again and use Inmate Inquiry as well.
Recent Arrests feed

Use Recent Arrests when you do not need the entire daily activity log

Galveston County P2C keeps a separate Recent Arrests page. A typical entry can display the person’s name, photograph, race, sex, age, physical description and an arrest charge.

The arrest page carries its own presumption-of-innocence disclaimer. A listed charge is an arrest allegation at that stage, not a court judgment.
Use it for speed

If you were told someone was arrested recently, this is usually the fastest visual scan.

Do not stop there

Move to Inmate Inquiry to see more jail-specific information and determine whether there is a matching inmate detail.

Verify identity

A photograph, name or age alone should not be your only identity check. Compare multiple details.

Name-based jail lookup

Search Galveston County Inmate Inquiry after you find the arrest

The P2C Inmate Inquiry provides first-name and last-name search fields. The list can include name, race, sex, age, primary charge, arrest date and booking agency.
Open Inmate Inquiry Open the official inmate search.
Start with the last name Add the first name when too many records appear.
Try another spelling when needed Hyphens, suffixes, compound surnames and aliases can cause a reasonable search to miss the person.
Compare the primary charge and arrest date They should fit the event you already know about.
Check the booking agency This helps identify which law-enforcement office may own the underlying offense or arrest report.
Open the inmate detail The detail format includes fields for arrest date, release date, next court date and total bond amount.
Save the case information before calling Have the exact booked name and visible arrest details ready when contacting the jail.
For someone you are trying to help today: save the booked name, arrest date, booking agency, primary charge, next court date and total bond before closing the result.

Booking paperwork is incomplete The Sheriff explains that incomplete or incorrect paperwork is returned to the arresting officer for correction before normal booking continues.
The person is still in the booking queue Booking includes questions, mugshots and usually fingerprints before processing is complete.
The Daily Bulletin has not caught up The P2C bulletin warns that some events are not posted on the same day they occur.
The name differs from what you searched Try a surname, compound surname, former name or alternate spelling.
The person was booked somewhere else An event in Galveston County does not always mean the person is currently housed in the Galveston County Jail.
The event was a citation or summons A criminal allegation can exist without a county-jail booking.
The person was released quickly Check the arrest feed and court case rather than relying only on a current inmate list.
The record is restricted Juvenile, expunged, nondisclosed or legally confidential information may not be publicly available.

Bond, magistrate and release

What happens after the person finishes booking?

The Sheriff says that after booking is completed, a person is allowed two free two-minute phone calls to help facilitate release, notify loved ones or contact an attorney.
Check the inmate detail for total bond Use the displayed number as a starting point, not a guarantee of release.
Confirm every charge and hold Another case or unresolved condition may still block release.
Understand the Sheriff’s two basic bond routes The Corrections Division explains that a person may pay the full eligible bond or fine amount or contact a bondsman about available options and rates.
Do not ask the Sheriff to recommend a bondsman The Sheriff states that the agency cannot recommend one.
Wait until paperwork is actually complete The Sheriff says the person does not enter the release queue until required payment and paperwork have been received.
Expect release paperwork to be rechecked Officers verify documents and identity before final release.

Galveston County Magistrate Court

Galveston County states that Magistrate Court is held twice each day in the jail. The county says a person arrested in Galveston County is presented before a magistrate no later than 24 hours after arrest, and individuals unable to post monetary bond conditions receive review within 12 hours of their initial hearing.

Parking is a real issue here. The Sheriff says gated parking is off limits to the public, visitation parking is very limited, visitors should arrive early and park only in designated areas, and violations can result in a ticket or tow.

Do not bring recording-capable devices into the front lobby

The Sheriff specifically prohibits devices that can record audio, record video or take photographs. The published examples include cell phones, smart watches, portable game consoles, tablets, portable computers, cameras and recorders.

The Sheriff warns that recording a visit or taking photographs can result in a permanent visitation ban.

Dress rules that commonly cause avoidable problems

No offensive or profane images or wording
Shorts and skirts no more than three inches above mid-knee
Shirts and dresses must cover the shoulders
No exposed midriff, back, cleavage or large areas of skin
No sheer or see-through clothing
No flip-flops, sandals, slippers or other open-toed footwear
Long-distance family: the Sheriff says special extended visits can be requested for someone travelling more than 240 miles and normally cannot occur more than once every three months. Emergency circumstances such as a death in the immediate family can also support a special visit request.
Helping someone after booking

Calls, commissary and mail: verify the current channel instead of using an old third-party address

Immediate calls after booking

The Sheriff currently says a person who completes booking receives two free two-minute calls for release arrangements, family notification or attorney contact.

Commissary

Galveston County’s current commissary contract identifies Keefe Commissary Network as the jail commissary vendor through August 19, 2027.

Mail and account deposits

The current Sheriff corrections page does not clearly publish a complete family mail/deposit workflow. Confirm the current address and payment method with the jail before sending anything.

Why we do not print an unverified mail address here: jail mail-processing vendors and deposit routes change. Call 409-766-2315 and confirm the current personal-mail address, inmate identifier and money-deposit service before mailing a letter, money order or package.
Family-services call script
I am calling about [booked name]. Before I send anything, can you confirm the current personal-mail address, the inmate identifier I must include, the approved money-deposit method, the current commissary or care-package provider, and whether the inmate has any restrictions that would affect delivery?
Case privacy: ordinary jail calls, non-legal correspondence and social visits should not be treated as confidential attorney-client communications. Avoid discussing evidence, witnesses, passwords, alibis or defense strategy.

Expunction

Texas law allows qualifying arrest and court records to be expunged in specific circumstances. Eligibility depends on the exact case history.

10 Galveston County questions

Galveston County arrest-log questions answered

Where can I see today’s Galveston County arrests?

Use the official Galveston County Police to Citizen Daily Bulletin and Recent Arrests pages. The Daily Bulletin can be filtered by bulletin date and event type, while Recent Arrests shows individual arrest entries. The Sheriff’s site warns that some events may not be reported on the same day they occurred, so also check Inmate Inquiry when you are trying to confirm current jail custody.

What is the difference between Galveston County Daily Bulletin, Recent Arrests and Inmate Inquiry?

Daily Bulletin is a date-based activity log that can include arrests, citations or summonses and incidents. Recent Arrests is a quicker arrest-focused feed. Inmate Inquiry is better when you need to search a person by first or last name and see jail-related information such as primary charge, arrest date and booking agency. An inmate detail page may also show release date, next court date and total bond.

Why is an arrest from today not showing in the Galveston County log yet?

Same-day absence does not necessarily mean no arrest occurred. The Sheriff’s Corrections Division explains that booking paperwork must be complete before the person moves through the booking queue, and the Daily Bulletin states that some events may not be reported on the same day they occurred. Check alternate spellings, Recent Arrests, Inmate Inquiry and the court portal, or call the Galveston County Jail at 409-766-2315.

How do I search for a Galveston County jail inmate by name?

Open the official P2C Inmate Inquiry and enter the person’s last name, first name or both. The results can show name, race, sex, age, primary charge, arrest date and booking agency. Open the inmate detail and compare identity information before relying on the record.

Does the Galveston County arrest log show whether someone was convicted?

No. An arrest entry documents an arrest or booking-related event and does not prove guilt or conviction. Use the current Galveston County Odyssey court portal to check the filed criminal case and final disposition. County Courts at Law handle criminal misdemeanor matters, while district courts handle felony criminal cases.

How do I get a Galveston County Sheriff’s arrest or offense report?

First check the P2C report search because public police reports available through that system can be printed online. For additional Sheriff’s Office records, send a written public-information request to the GCSO Records Division by email, mail or hand delivery. The Records Division lists GCSOrecords@co.galveston.tx.us, 601 54th Street, Galveston, Texas 77551 and phone 409-766-2320.

How can I check bond and release information for a Galveston County inmate?

Open the P2C inmate detail and review the total bond and release-related fields, then confirm all charges and holds with the jail. The Sheriff’s Corrections Division states that a person does not enter the release queue until necessary payment and paperwork have been received. Galveston County Magistrate Court handles probable-cause and bond settings, and eligible personal bonds must be ordered by a judge.

What are the Galveston County Jail visitation rules?

The Sheriff’s current visitation page lists three visiting windows on its schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m. to 4:25 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 11:40 p.m. Visitors are limited to one visit per day, two visits per week and two visitors per visit. One child may visit with an adult, and visitors age 16 or older need proper identification. Check the live schedule before traveling.

Where is the Galveston County Jail?

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office lists the Galveston County Jail at 5700 Avenue H, Galveston, Texas 77551. The jail telephone number is 409-766-2315. Visitation parking is limited, gated parking is not open to the public, and visitors should use designated parking areas only.

Can a Galveston County arrest record be corrected, expunged or made subject to nondisclosure?

An inaccurate Texas criminal-history record can be challenged through the agency that owns the error and, when appropriate, the Texas DPS Criminal History Error Resolution Unit. Expunction and nondisclosure are different legal remedies for qualifying records. Eligibility depends on the exact arrest, charge, disposition and criminal history, so obtain the court disposition before deciding which process may apply.
