Find the Booking First—Then Request the Brazos County Mugshot if You Need the Image
Brazos County does not require you to start with a third-party mugshot website. The Sheriff directs current and former inmate searches through Justice Web, where Smart Search can help locate a person who is in the Brazos County Detention Center or has been booked there before.
If the public record does not show the photograph you need, there is a second official route: request the booking photo from the Sheriff. The current county fee page lists a $5 mugshot fee. This guide shows both paths and explains what to verify before you assume a photo belongs to the right person.
Justice Web → Smart Search.
Current Sheriff fee page lists $5.

What to include in the request
Before treating a mugshot as the right person, match the record
A face can look familiar and still belong to someone else. This matters especially with common surnames, relatives who resemble one another, outdated photographs and commercial websites that copy old booking images.

Why a recent Brazos County booking may be hard to find
Booking can include identification, criminal-history checks, fingerprinting, photographing, property inventory, medical screening, classification and cell assignment before the record settles into its normal public view.
A short stay can still create an arrest and court record even when the person is no longer in current custody.
Retry Smart Search with fewer terms. Check spelling, hyphenation, suffixes, former names and middle names.
The incident may involve Bryan, College Station or Brazos County but the person may have been booked into another county.
A citation, summons or other process can create a criminal case without a Brazos County Detention Center mugshot.
Use the record to identify the booking, then request the photograph through Sheriff’s Records rather than concluding no mugshot exists.

If the mugshot belongs to someone still in custody, check every bond first
Cash bond
Brazos County states that a cash bond can be posted using the exact cash amount or credit/debit card through GovPay.
- GovPay charges a service fee.
- Valid state-issued ID is required.
- The exact bond is paid in one transaction.
- Intake/Release issues a receipt.
Surety bond
Only a bondsman licensed and approved by the Brazos County Bail Bond Board may post a surety bond for the county detention center.
Do not choose a company merely because it contacted you after seeing a booking record.
Personal bond
A judge may authorize a personal-recognizance bond in an eligible case without requiring the defendant to pay the full bail amount.
Before paying
Confirm every active case, amount and hold with the Detention Center. One posted bond may not clear another case.

Six details that make this search easier
Find the county record first. A Google image result can be stale, copied or attached to the wrong person.
You will need it for jail mail and it can help staff locate the correct detention record.
The official $5 mugshot request route exists even when a public search does not surface an image.
HCSO may hold a person arrested by Bryan Police, College Station Police, Texas A&M Police or another agency.
A booking allegation can be changed, rejected or dismissed after intake.
The Sheriff publishes an exact-change requirement, while online JustFOIA requests may use a different workflow.
Recent booking-photo questions answered
How do I search Brazos County mugshots and recent bookings?
Start with the Brazos County Sheriff’s Justice Web page and open the county’s Tyler Technologies public portal. Select Smart Search to look for a person who is currently in the Brazos County Detention Center or who has previously been booked there. Verify the person’s name, case information and booking details before relying on the record. If a booking photo is not displayed, the Sheriff’s current public-information fee page lists official mugshot copies for $5.
Does Brazos County have a recent mugshot gallery?
The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office currently directs the public to Justice Web and Smart Search for current and former jail records rather than advertising a separate recent-mugshot gallery. Use Smart Search to locate the booking record. For a copy of an official booking photograph, contact Sheriff’s Records or submit an open-records request.
How much does a Brazos County mugshot cost?
The Brazos County Sheriff’s current Monitor Information fee schedule lists mugshots at $5. The same page states that records requests require proof of identification and exact change. Call Records at 979-361-4903 before an in-person trip because online-request payment and delivery procedures may differ.
Why can’t I find a recent Brazos County booking?
The person may still be in intake, the name may be entered differently, the person may have been released quickly, the arrest may have resulted in a citation instead of jail admission, or the person may have been booked in another county. Retry Smart Search with fewer name details and contact Brazos County Detention booking at 979-361-4811 when the current custody status remains unclear.
Does a Brazos County mugshot mean the person was convicted?
No. A mugshot is a photograph created during the jail intake process. It does not prove guilt or show how the criminal case ended. Use the Brazos County Judicial Records Search to locate the related criminal case and read the disposition or other final court action.
How do I request an official Brazos County booking photo?
Use the Brazos County Sheriff’s open-records process through the county JustFOIA portal or contact Sheriff’s Records at 979-361-4903. Include the person’s full booked name, date of birth if known, approximate booking date, SO number and case number when available. Specify that you are requesting the booking photograph or mugshot.
How do I find the charges and court case behind a Brazos County mugshot?
After finding the inmate through Smart Search, save the available case number and identifying information. Use the same Brazos County public judicial portal to search the criminal case. The District Clerk maintains misdemeanor and felony court filings for Brazos County and can provide case documents and dispositions.
How do I visit someone booked into the Brazos County Detention Center?
All visits must be scheduled online. The Sheriff’s current visitation page lists video visitation daily from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with Video on Demand available daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Remote visits are currently listed at 20 cents per minute. Visitors must be placed on the authorized visitor list and present valid government-issued identification.
How can I post bond after finding someone in Brazos County jail?
First verify every active case and bond. Brazos County accepts eligible cash bonds using the exact cash amount or a credit or debit card through GovPay, which charges a service fee. Surety bonds must be posted by a bondsman licensed and approved by the Brazos County Bail Bond Board. Some defendants may qualify for a personal recognizance bond by court order.
Can a Brazos County mugshot be removed or expunged?
A booking photograph does not disappear merely because a case is dismissed. Some Texas arrests may qualify for expunction, and some criminal records may qualify for an order of nondisclosure. Eligibility depends on the arrest, charge, disposition and other history. Obtain the final Brazos County court disposition before evaluating record-clearing options.
