Follow a Kaufman County Booking From Intake to Release
If someone was recently taken to the Kaufman County Jail, start with the Sheriff’s live inmate list. You can search by name, charge description or number of days, or open the complete current-inmate list when you are unsure how the name was entered.
Once you find the person, slow down long enough to check every charge and every bond entry. A person with several charges may have different bond conditions on each case, and posting one bond does not necessarily mean the person is ready to walk out of the jail.

Help someone in jailThree useful ways to search Kaufman County bookings
Kaufman County’s current jail search is unusually useful because you are not limited to typing a person’s name. The portal exposes separate search routes for inmates, charges and bookings over a selected number of days.
Use this when you know the person’s booked name.
If spelling is uncertain, use View All Inmates and scan the current list carefully.
Use the Charges option when you are trying to identify current inmates associated with a particular displayed charge.
The portal also provides View All Charges.
Use the Days option to look at bookings across a recent period.
The current search accepts a number from one to four digits.
Read charges and bond without jumping to the wrong conclusion
| Item | Why it matters | What it does not prove | Next move |
|---|---|---|---|
| Booked name | Confirms the name used by the jail system. | Identity by itself when names are similar. | Compare another identifier before sending money. |
| SO / local ID | Helps identify the person for jail mail and services. | The outcome of a criminal charge. | Save it before closing the inmate page. |
| Booking or admit date | Places the person in the jail intake timeline. | The exact offense time. | Compare it with the arrest and court case. |
| Charge | Shows the allegation associated with that custody record. | That prosecutors filed or proved the same charge. | Check Tyler Odyssey for the filed case. |
| Bond | Shows a release amount or condition associated with a charge when one is listed. | That payment clears every case or hold. | Confirm all active matters with the jail. |
| Arresting agency | Helps identify who created the underlying law-enforcement report. | The Sheriff wrote the offense narrative. | Request the report from the agency that created it. |
| Housing | Helps with visitation and other custody questions. | The person will remain in that assignment. | Recheck before travelling. |
| Release status | Tells you whether the custody event appears to have ended. | Dismissal or acquittal. | Search the final court disposition. |
A simple example
Charge A displays a bond. Charge B has a different condition.
That payment addresses only the matter for which the payment was accepted.
Call the jail and ask what still prevents release instead of paying another party based on a guess.
The person was arrested but does not appear in the roster
Before paying bond, find out what still has to clear
The most expensive mistake on a booking page is assuming that one visible bond amount is the entire release problem. Treat each charge as a separate line that needs to be checked.
After the person is released on bond
A judge may place a released defendant under pretrial conditions or supervision.
