Kaufman County Mugshots Search | Recent Booking Photos

Find a Recent Kaufman County Booking Without Guessing From a Mugshot

If the arrest happened recently, go straight to the Kaufman County Sheriff’s live inmate portal. You can search by name, browse by charge, or switch to Days to narrow the roster to recent admissions.

A booking photo can help confirm that you found the right person, but it is not the legal outcome. Save the inmate’s identifying information, booking details, charge and bond, then use Kaufman County’s court portal to see whether prosecutors actually filed the charge and what happened afterward.

A mugshot is a booking image, not a finding of guilt. Someone can be photographed and booked even if the charge is later rejected, dismissed, reduced or resolved without a conviction. Always check the court case before describing a person as convicted of the booking offense.

The three useful search modes

Choose the roster search that fits what you know

Search by inmate

Use this when you know the person’s name. It is the quickest route to one individual booking.

Best for: family and custody checks

Search by charge

Switch to Charges when you know the allegation but not the exact spelling of the person’s name. The portal also offers View all charges.

Best for: narrowing a broad search

Search by days

Use the Days tab for a recent-booking search. Enter the number of days you want to look back; the input accepts one to four digits.

Best for: recent booking photos
Fastest way to find a new booking: select Days, enter a short window such as 1, 3 or 7 days, then open the plausible result and verify the identity before using the photograph or charge information.

Go directly to the part you need

The mugshot and recent-booking steps come first. Jail services and court follow-up appear after them.

Primary search intent

How to browse recent Kaufman County bookings

Open the Sheriff’s Current Inmates portal This is the live county-jail search linked directly from the Kaufman County Sheriff website. Open Kaufman County Current Inmates
Select Days for a recent-booking search The navigation includes Inmates, Charges and Days. Use Days when the arrest happened recently and you want to narrow the roster by admission period.
Enter the number of days The field accepts one to four digits. Start with a short period rather than loading an unnecessarily large range.
Open each plausible result Do not identify someone only from a thumbnail or similar name. Compare the full name and the booking information shown in the detailed record.
Use the photograph as a cross-check When a booking image is displayed, compare it with the other identifiers. A photograph alone is not enough to establish identity.
Save the SO or local ID when shown Kaufman County uses the inmate’s SO number for mail and other jail services, making it more useful than repeatedly searching by name.
Write down each charge and bond A person can have several charge entries with different bond amounts or conditions.
Check the arresting agency The agency that arrested the person may hold the police narrative even though the person is housed in the county jail.
Continue to the court record The jail roster answers booking and custody questions. The court file answers what prosecutors filed and how the case ended.
The live roster is not a complete historical mugshot archive. A person who has been released or whose booking is older may be harder to locate through the current-inmate interface. Use inmate records, open records and the court portal for older events.
Avoid the most common mistake

Confirm the person before treating a booking photo as a match

Full booked name matches
Date of birth is consistent when shown
SO or local ID matches another source
Admit or booking date fits the known arrest
Arresting agency makes geographic sense
Charge corresponds with the known event
Housing or custody information is current
Court case follows the same arrest
Use at least two independent identifiers. Do this before posting the mugshot elsewhere, contacting a bail company, sending money or assuming a charge belongs to a specific person.

What the photograph can—and cannot—tell you

Useful for

  • Visual identity confirmation
  • Distinguishing people with similar names
  • Connecting a recent booking to the correct roster entry

Not proof of

  • Guilt
  • Conviction
  • The final criminal charge
  • Current custody after the page was viewed
  • The final outcome of the case
Booking-result decoder

Know which information matters after you find the photo

Use jail data to identify the booking, then use court data to determine the outcome
Item What it helps answer What it does not establish Next move
Booking photo Is this visually the person I am searching for? Guilt or conviction. Match other identifiers.
SO / Local ID Which jail identity belongs to this inmate? One specific court disposition. Save it for mail and jail inquiries.
Admit / booking date When did this jail intake begin? Exact offense time. Compare with police and court dates.
Housing location Where is the inmate currently assigned? That the housing assignment will not change. Recheck before visiting.
Charge What allegation is connected to the booking? The final prosecutor-filed charge. Search the criminal court case.
Offense date What date is attached to the alleged offense? When the person entered jail. Use it to narrow court and report searches.
Bond What release amount or type is associated with a charge? That payment alone guarantees release. Check every charge and hold.
Arresting agency Which agency made the arrest? That the Sheriff created the police report. Request the narrative from that agency.
Charging agency Which agency is associated with the charge entry? The prosecutor’s final filing decision. Check County or District Clerk records.
For a family member in custody: the most useful things to save are the booked name, SO number, current housing/pod, admit date, charges and bond information.
No photo or no result

What to check when the recent booking does not appear

The booking is still being processed A new arrest may not appear in the public interface immediately after arrival.
The person was released The Sheriff portal is primarily a current-inmate tool, so use court records or an inmate-record request for an older custody event.
The name is entered differently Search by surname and try alternate spelling, suffix, former name or hyphenation.
Your Days window is too short Increase the number of days when the exact booking date is uncertain.
The arrest was outside Kaufman County Search the county where the person was actually booked.
The person is in another custody system A state or federal transfer will not be answered by the local current-inmate roster.
The event did not result in county-jail booking A citation, summons or other process can create a criminal court case without a standard county-jail mugshot.
The record is legally restricted Juvenile, expunged and other confidential information may not be publicly available.

Check whether the case is a misdemeanor or felony

Kaufman County has a useful split: the District Attorney explains that misdemeanor cases are filed with the County Clerk, while felony cases are filed with the District Clerk.

Class A or B misdemeanor

County Clerk criminal files cover misdemeanor cases handled in the County Courts at Law.

  • Search the official Tyler court portal first.
  • Use the defendant name and date range.
  • Compare the charge with the booking.
  • Locate dismissal, plea, judgment or other disposition.

County Clerk Court Division: 469-376-4736

Felony

Felony cases are filed through the Kaufman County District Clerk after prosecutor and grand-jury processes where applicable.

  • Search the same official Tyler portal.
  • Open the matching felony case.
  • Check indictment or charging information.
  • Read the docket through final disposition.

District Clerk: 469-376-4640

How to verify the result

Search the person’s exact name Add a date range or case information when multiple people share the name.
Match the booking and filing dates They do not need to be identical, but the timeline should make sense.
Compare the offense The filed offense may differ from the booking label.
Open every count Multiple charges from one booking can end differently.
Read the final disposition Look for dismissal, plea, deferred adjudication, conviction, acquittal or another documented outcome.
Order a certified record when proof matters A screenshot of a mugshot or web docket is not the same as a certified court disposition.

County Clerk misdemeanor copy fees

Current fees published by the Kaufman County Clerk
Record service Published fee When useful
Public inspection No charge Review available County Clerk court records.
Plain copy $1 per page Personal reference or ordinary documentation.
Certified copy $5 certification + $1 per page When official proof is required.
Certification of Facts $5 Search result certification without copies.
For a mailed misdemeanor search, the County Clerk asks for the charged person’s name, the date of offense or conviction within a 10-year period and the offense type when known. The search is conducted only under the name supplied by the requester.
Police narrative vs jail record

Do not request the arrest narrative from the wrong office

The county jail can hold people arrested by different law-enforcement agencies. The mugshot and jail booking may therefore be held by the Sheriff while the incident narrative belongs to another department.

If KCSO made the arrest

Use the Sheriff’s Open Records Request form for the releasable Sheriff-created report.

If a city police agency made the arrest

Use the arresting department’s own records process for the incident or offense narrative.

If you only need the legal outcome

Skip the police report and use the County or District Clerk case instead.

Kaufman County’s District Attorney explains that a police report and a public court file are different records. Once misdemeanor or felony charging paperwork is filed with the appropriate Clerk, those court records are generally treated as public unless a legal restriction applies.
Bond and release

Check every charge before calling a bail company

Verify the correct inmate Use the name, SO number and current jail record.
List every charge Do not assume one displayed bond amount covers the entire booking.
Confirm the bond type and amount A cash, surety, personal or restricted release condition can require different action.
Ask whether another hold exists A separate warrant, case or outside-agency hold can prevent immediate release.
Check the current licensed-surety list Kaufman County’s Bail Bond Board regulates companies authorised to write bonds in the county.
Get the fee and collateral terms in writing Bail-bond premiums and collateral arrangements are separate from the court’s bond amount.
Save the receipt Keep the inmate name, SO number, case, bond amount, company and payment details.
Do not promise an exact release time Release depends on completion of jail, court and hold-clearing processes.
Bail Bond Administrator / Sheriff: 972-932-4337
Kaufman County changed its local bail-bond list rules effective June 1, 2026. The Bail Bond Administrator can update the licensed-surety list during a month, so use the live county list rather than copying an older company list from another website.

What happens after release?

A person disappearing from the current inmate list does not mean the criminal charge disappeared. Continue to the Tyler court portal to check the case and next court setting.

Important address change

Use the current personal-mail address, not an older jail address

The Sheriff site contains two different mail references. The detailed current Jail Info instructions direct ordinary personal mail to the Longview scanning address below. A more general Inmate Services page still contains an older P.O. Box 849 reference. For personal correspondence, follow the detailed mail instructions and verify them again before mailing.
Current ordinary personal-mail format

Inmate Name
SO# (Local ID)
Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office
PO Box 591
Longview, TX 75606
What happens to the letter

Personal mail sent to the Longview processing center is scanned for electronic delivery. The original material is then destroyed and will not be returned or released.

Legal and medical mail

Do not send legal or medical correspondence to the Longview scanning address. It must be mailed to the facility where the inmate is housed under KCSO’s legal/medical mail procedure.

Personal-mail checklist

Include inmate name
Include Sheriff’s Office booking / SO number
Include complete return address
Maximum paper size: 8.5 × 11 inches
Maximum five pages per mailing
Write only on the front side of pages
Maximum one photo per mailing
Do not send books or magazines to the scanning address
If more than one photograph is included, KCSO states that the entire mailing will be returned and nothing will be scanned or delivered.

Faster digital option

The Sheriff also directs families to NCIC inmate messaging. KCSO currently publishes a price of $0.25 per message and $0.35 per picture or document message.

Calls, money and commissary

Use the inmate’s SO number before funding anything

  • No connection fee
  • International calls: $0.50 per minute
  • Create and fund the account through NCIC

NCIC: 800-943-2189

Online deposits

KCSO uses Tiger Correctional Services for online inmate trust-fund deposits and commissary ordering.

Open Kaufman County Tiger Commissary

Money orders

KCSO says money orders may be received through U.S. Mail or in person. Make the money order payable to the inmate’s name, enter the purchaser’s address and sign as purchaser. Do not endorse the back.
No cash is accepted for inmate accounts. Also verify the correct inmate and SO number before sending funds; a mugshot alone is not an adequate payment identifier.
Family safety concern

If you are worried about an inmate’s mental or medical condition

KCSO identifies Turn Key Health as its jail medical provider and provides a dedicated option on the Sheriff’s Jail Info page for reporting an inmate mental-health concern.

Have this information ready
  • Booked name
  • SO number when known
  • Current housing location when shown
  • Specific symptoms or safety concern
  • Known medication or medical history if relevant
Do not use ordinary mail for urgent concerns

Call the jail directly when the issue is time-sensitive instead of waiting for a scanned letter or inmate message.

After dismissal or another qualifying result

A mugshot can outlive the jail stay—start with the disposition

Find the criminal case Determine whether the booking became a filed misdemeanor or felony.
Read the final disposition Do not begin from the assumption that release means dismissal.
Order proof when needed Obtain the appropriate certified court record for a correction or legal filing.
Separate correction from expunction An inaccurate booking record needs correction; an accurate qualifying arrest may require legal record-clearing relief.
Identify every agency holding the record Include the Sheriff, Clerk, DA and any outside arresting agency when required.
Recheck private mugshot or background sites separately A court order does not necessarily cause every private copy of a record to disappear instantly.

Kaufman County’s expunction notice is unusually useful

Kaufman County publishes a local list of agencies commonly involved in an expunction. It states that no fee is required when the agency email addresses are included in the petition/order. For an agency that does not have an email address, the county’s current notice states that a $25 certified-mail issuance fee applies, effective September 1, 2025.

Kaufman County District Attorney kaufmancountyda@kaufmancounty.net

Expunction

Can remove qualifying arrest records from covered agencies when Texas law permits it.

Nondisclosure

Restricts public disclosure of qualifying criminal-history information but is not the same as destroying the record.

Useful Kaufman County details

Small things that make this search easier

Use Days instead of endlessly scrolling

The Sheriff portal has a built-in recent-days filter. It is more efficient than searching unrelated third-party mugshot pages.

Save the SO number

You will need it for personal mail and it helps keep jail-service transactions tied to the correct inmate.

Check the court split

Misdemeanor and felony files are maintained by different Clerk offices even though both can be reached through the county’s court-search route.

Do not use the old personal-mail address

The detailed Sheriff mail rules now route ordinary personal mail through the Longview scanning center.

Use the current bond list

The Bail Bond Administrator may update licensed sureties during the month, so old company lists can become stale.

Keep the disposition

If the case is dismissed or otherwise resolved favorably, a certified disposition is far more useful than a screenshot when correcting downstream records.

10 practical questions

Kaufman County mugshot and booking-photo questions

Where can I search Kaufman County mugshots and recent bookings?

Use the Kaufman County Sheriff’s official Current Inmates portal. The search screen lets you look by inmate name, charge description, or the number of days. You can also select View all inmates. Open a matching inmate record and verify the person’s identifying information, booking date, charge and bond before relying on a displayed booking photograph.

How do I see Kaufman County bookings from the last few days?

Open the official inmate portal and select Days. Enter the number of days you want to review; the field accepts one to four digits. Use a small number such as 1, 3 or 7 for a recent booking, then open the matching result for the available booking details.

Does a Kaufman County mugshot mean the person was convicted?

No. A booking photograph documents a person’s appearance during a jail booking. It does not prove guilt or conviction. Check the court record to determine whether prosecutors filed a charge and whether the case was dismissed, deferred, pleaded, tried or otherwise resolved.

Why can I not find a recent Kaufman County booking?

The booking may still be processing, the person may already have been released, the name may be entered differently, the arrest may have occurred in another county, or the event may not have resulted in a Kaufman County Jail booking. Try the surname, expand the Days search, check the court portal and call the jail at 972-932-4337 if the current status remains unclear.

How do I find the court case connected to a Kaufman County mugshot?

Use Kaufman County’s official Tyler Odyssey court portal. Class A and B misdemeanor criminal files are maintained by the County Clerk, while felony cases are filed with the District Clerk. Search by the defendant’s name or case information and compare the charge, filing date and court to the jail booking.

How do I request an older Kaufman County arrest or booking record?

Use the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Open Records Request form when the information is no longer available through the current-inmate portal. Provide the case number when known, incident date and time range, location, type of incident, names of people involved and a specific description of the records requested.

How do I visit someone in the Kaufman County Jail?

In-person visitation days depend on the inmate’s sex, housing pod and whether the inmate is held for the U.S. Marshals Service. Visits are 25 minutes, valid photo identification is required for adult visitors, and the inmate is limited to two in-person visits per week. Video visitation through NCIC is available daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the currently published rate of 30 cents per minute.

What address should I use for Kaufman County inmate mail?

The Sheriff’s detailed Jail Info instructions direct ordinary personal mail to the inmate’s name and SO number, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, PO Box 591, Longview, Texas 75606. Legal and medical mail must be sent to the facility instead. Check the live Sheriff mail instructions before mailing because another general inmate-services page still contains an older Kaufman mailing reference.

How can I send money or communicate with a Kaufman County inmate?

Kaufman County uses Tiger Correctional Services for inmate trust deposits and NCIC Inmate Communications for telephone, messaging and video services. Domestic inmate calls are currently listed at 21 cents per minute with no connection fee. Verify the inmate’s name and SO number before funding an account.

Can a Kaufman County mugshot or arrest record be expunged?

Some Texas arrests may qualify for expunction, and some criminal records may qualify for an order of nondisclosure. Kaufman County publishes an expunction agency list for local offices that commonly need notice. Eligibility depends on the exact arrest, charge, disposition, waiting period and other history, so obtain the court disposition before filing.
