Kaufman County Jail Roster Search | Inmate and Booking List

Find the Right Kaufman County Inmate Before You Call, Visit or Send Money

The Kaufman County Sheriff maintains a live jail roster that works differently from many Texas inmate locators. You can look for a person by name, browse inmates by charge, or pull bookings from the last number of days.

Once you find the person, do not rush straight to a bond company or deposit site. Confirm the inmate’s identity and S.O. number first, then use the sections below for visitation, video visits, phone calls, scanned mail, Tiger Commissary, bail, court records and appointed-counsel help.

Official roster search

The Kaufman County roster has three useful search routes

The official roster is unusually simple. Instead of asking for a long form of personal information, it offers three practical ways into the booking list.

Search by name

Use this when you know how the inmate is probably booked. Start with the surname, then compare every plausible match rather than assuming the first result is correct.

Search current inmates

Search by charge

The roster lets you browse by charge description and also offers a “View all charges” route. This can help when the name spelling is uncertain but you know the alleged offense.

Browse roster charges

Search over recent days

Enter the number of days you want to look back. The official tool says the input accepts one to four numbers.

Check recent bookings
Easy mistake: The “Days” option is asking for a number of days to look back—not a calendar date. If the arrest was roughly three days ago, start with 3 rather than trying to enter the arrest date.
Open the official Kaufman County Jail roster Open Current Inmates
Choose the route you actually know Use name when the spelling is reliable, charge when the allegation is known, or Days for a recent booking.
Do not rely on name alone Compare the known age, booking timing, charge and any S.O. or booking identifier displayed.
Save the S.O. number Kaufman County uses the Sheriff’s Office local number for mail and other inmate services.
Write down every charge A person can have more than one case, bond or hold.
Recheck before sending money or travelling Jail status can change after bond, court, transfer or release processing.
Useful shortcut: If you are only trying to find who was booked recently, use the Days search instead of typing names one by one.
Before acting on a match

Save these details when you find the inmate

Exact booked name
S.O. or local inmate number when shown
Booking or arrest timing
Every listed charge
Bond information when shown
Known court or cause number
Release status if available
Any information that distinguishes a same-name person
Do not send money from a name-only match. If two people could plausibly be the same person, call the jail at 972-932-4337 and confirm the S.O. number before using a paid service.

What the roster can and cannot answer

Use the correct source for the question
Question Roster can help? Better source when more detail is needed
Is the person listed in Kaufman County Jail? Yes, start with Current Inmates. Call the jail if the status is unclear.
Who was booked recently? Yes, use the Days search. Sheriff inmate records for older or detailed records.
Who is held on a particular charge? Yes, use the charge-description search. Court docket for the filed criminal charge.
What exactly happened during the arrest? No. Sheriff or arresting-agency offense/incident report.
Was the charge dismissed or reduced? Not reliably. Kaufman County Odyssey court record.
Can the person be released today? It may provide part of the picture. Jail, court order and bond information.

If the inmate is not on the Kaufman County roster

Booking may still be underway An arrest can occur before the person becomes searchable in the public roster.
The person may already be released A short booking can end before a family member checks the roster.
The name may be entered differently Try the surname, alternate spelling, maiden name, suffix or another known legal name.
Search recent days instead This is useful when you know the approximate booking date but not the exact roster spelling.
Search the known charge The charge-description tool provides another route into the current roster.
The person may be in another county Search the county where the person was actually booked, not merely where they live.
The event may not involve jail custody Some citations, summonses or court matters do not create a county-jail roster entry.
The person may have transferred A sentenced person can eventually move into TDCJ or another custodial system.
Call script when the roster is blank
I am trying to confirm whether [full legal name] is currently in Kaufman County custody. The arrest may have happened on [date] through [agency]. Can you confirm whether the person is still processing, currently housed, released, transferred, or listed under another name or S.O. number?

Bond and release

Verify the bond before paying anyone

The roster is a good starting point, but a displayed charge or bond should not be treated as a guaranteed release quote. A second case, warrant, court order or hold can change what must happen before the person leaves custody.

Confirm the correct inmate Use the booked name and S.O. number.
Ask about every charge Do not assume one bond resolves the entire booking.
Ask whether any additional hold exists A separate county, state or court matter can affect release.
Verify the current amount Court action after booking can change bond conditions.
Use the Sheriff’s approved-company list The Kaufman County Sheriff Jail Info page links its current Approved Bail Bond Companies document.
Get the agreement in writing Keep the company name, premium, collateral terms, inmate details and receipt.
Do not confuse Pretrial Bond Supervision with a bail bond company. Kaufman County’s Pretrial Bond Supervision Department monitors qualifying defendants who have been released under court-ordered conditions.

Call the jail first if you need accessible parking or are travelling specifically for a time-sensitive visit.
In-person visitation

Check the inmate’s group before choosing a visit day

Kaufman County does not use one universal social-visitation schedule. The correct day depends on whether the inmate is female, housed in A/C Pod, housed in B Pod, or held for the U.S. Marshals Service.

Current in-person visitation schedule published by the Sheriff
Inmate group Published visit time Useful planning note
Female county inmates Tuesday 7:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.; Saturday 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. Saturday is also the published minor-child day for female inmates.
Male A Pod / C Pod Wednesday 7:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.; Sunday 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. Sunday is the published minor-child day for these pods.
Male B Pod Thursday 7:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.; Saturday 7:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. Saturday is the published minor-child day for B Pod.
Federal males / USMS Tuesday 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.; Sunday 7:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. Do not use the county-male pod schedule.
Federal females / USMS Wednesday 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.; Saturday 8:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m. This is a separate federal-female schedule.
Visit length: The Sheriff currently allows two 25-minute in-person visits per week, with no more than one in-person visit on a visitation day.
Bring a valid picture ID such as driver’s license, state ID or passport
Minor children must be accompanied by parent, legal guardian or legal counsel
Wear shirt, shoes, pants or shorts and avoid revealing clothing
Visits are non-contact
Follow staff instructions during the entire visit
Recheck the live Sheriff page before travelling
Do not arrive at the end of the time block. The Sheriff states that the last sign-in opportunity is 30 minutes before visitation ends. For a 4:00 p.m. closing, that means 3:30 p.m.; for a 10:00 p.m. closing, 9:30 p.m.

Video visitation

  • Available through an NCIC account.
  • Published availability: 8:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. every day.
  • Published charge: $0.30 per minute.
  • The Sheriff does not publish a daily or weekly video-visit limit.
  • Disciplinary restrictions can suspend visitation access.

Telephone calls

  • Provider: NCIC Inmate Communications.
  • Published domestic rate: $0.21 per minute.
  • Published international rate: $0.50 per minute.
  • The Sheriff’s page states there is no connection fee.
  • NCIC assistance: 800-943-2189.
Assume ordinary inmate calls and social video visits are not private legal communications. Do not discuss evidence, witnesses, passwords, alibis or defense strategy on a normal jail communication channel.
Current scanned-mail system

Do not send ordinary personal mail to the old jail-mail address

Important: An older Sheriff inmate-services page still displays a Kaufman P.O. Box format. The current main Jail Info page gives a newer scanning address in Longview for ordinary inmate mail. Use the current Jail Info instructions before mailing.
Current ordinary inmate-mail format

Inmate Name
S.O. # / Local ID
Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office
P.O. Box 591
Longview, TX 75606
Include inmate name and Sheriff’s booking/S.O. number
Include your complete return address
Maximum 5 pages per mailing
Write only on the front side of pages
Maximum 1 photo per mailing
Keep mail within 8.5 × 11 inches
Mail sent to the Longview processing address is scanned for electronic delivery and then destroyed. The Sheriff states that the original item will not be returned or released after processing.
Legal and medical mail do not go to the Longview scanning address. The Sheriff directs those items to the facility under the jail’s legal/medical-mail rules. Call 972-932-4337 before sending sensitive original documents if you are unsure of the current format.

NCIC messaging is the faster alternative

The current Jail Info page also promotes inmate messaging through NCIC. The Sheriff currently publishes messages at $0.25 each and picture/document messages at $0.35 per image.

Trust fund and commissary

Use Tiger for Kaufman County inmate deposits and orders

Find the inmate first Verify the booked name and S.O. number before making a payment.
Use Tiger Correctional Services Kaufman County’s current jail page links Tiger for online trust-fund deposits and commissary orders.
Check the inmate before completing payment Similar names can lead to an expensive mistake.
Save the confirmation Keep the payer name, inmate information, amount and transaction number.

Money orders

The Sheriff also publishes a money-order option. Make the money order payable to the inmate’s name, include the purchaser’s address and purchaser’s signature, and do not endorse the back. The inmate-services page states that cash is not accepted for inmate accounts.
Before mailing a money order, call the jail to confirm the current mailing route. Ordinary correspondence now uses a separate Longview scanning address that should not be assumed to accept inmate funds.
Medical and mental-health concerns

Call the jail instead of sending medical details through normal messaging

Medical contractor

The Sheriff identifies Turn Key Health as the jail medical provider and routes the public through the jail contact.

Jail: 972-932-4337

Mental-health concern

The Sheriff’s current Jail Info page includes a specific “report an inmate mental health issue” contact option.

Open the live Jail Info page and use that option, or call the jail when the matter is urgent.

For a life-threatening emergency outside the jail, call 911. Do not use a website form as a substitute for emergency response.
Older booking or incident records

Use an open-records request when the roster is not enough

The current inmate list is designed for quick custody lookup. If you need a report, older record, incident documentation or a specific jail-related document, use the Sheriff’s official open-records form.

State whether the case number is known The form accepts both known and unknown case-number requests.
Give a date and time range Narrowing the event helps staff identify the right record.
Provide the location The official form specifically asks for the incident address.
Describe the document you need Ask for the specific report rather than “everything about this person.”
List the people involved Provide enough identity information to avoid a same-name record.
Choose the delivery method The form currently offers mail, fax or email.
The Sheriff’s page states that if you accept a releasable redacted copy, it will provide that copy within 10 working days from the request date. If you insist on unredacted material that requires an Attorney General ruling, the page says that process may take up to 45 working days.
Simple records-request description
I request the releasable incident, arrest or booking-related records for [full name] involving an incident on or about [date/time] at [location]. Known identifiers are S.O. number [number], case number [number] and charge [description]. I am willing to accept a legally redacted copy. Please contact me before processing if clarification or a significant cost is required.

10 useful roster questions

Kaufman County Jail roster questions answered

How do I search the Kaufman County Jail roster?

Open the official Kaufman County Sheriff’s inmate roster. You can search by inmate name, browse by charge description, view all inmates, or search bookings over a recent number of days. Open the matching entry and verify the identity before using the information for visitation, money, bond or court research.

Can I see recent Kaufman County Jail bookings instead of searching a name?

Yes. The official Kaufman County Jail roster includes an option to search over the last number of days. The search accepts a number from one to four digits. Use this when you know roughly when the person was booked but are unsure how the name appears in the jail system.

Why is someone not showing on the Kaufman County inmate roster?

A missing result can mean booking is still being completed, the person has already been released, the name is entered differently, the person was booked by another county, or the event did not result in a Kaufman County Jail booking. Try the surname, recent-days search and charge search, then call the jail at 972-932-4337 when custody remains uncertain.

What is the S.O. number for a Kaufman County inmate?

The S.O. number is the Sheriff’s Office local identifier used for an inmate. Kaufman County uses it for inmate mail and other jail services. Save the number when it appears in the jail record or obtain it from jail staff before sending mail or money.

What are the Kaufman County Jail visitation hours?

Visitation depends on sex, housing pod and federal custody status. Female county inmates have published visits Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Males in A and C Pods have Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Males in B Pod have Thursday and Saturday evenings. Federal male and female schedules are separate. Visitors should check the current Sheriff’s visitation page before traveling.

Does Kaufman County Jail offer video visitation?

Yes. The Sheriff’s current visitation page states that NCIC video visitation is available from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day at a published rate of 30 cents per minute. An NCIC account is required, and disciplinary restrictions can affect an inmate’s ability to participate.

Where do I send personal mail to a Kaufman County inmate?

The Sheriff’s current jail page directs ordinary inmate mail to the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office mail-processing address at P.O. Box 591, Longview, TX 75606. Include the inmate’s name, S.O. number or Sheriff’s booking number, and a return address. Legal and medical mail must not be sent to the Longview processing address.

How do I add money or pay for calls for a Kaufman County inmate?

Kaufman County uses Tiger Correctional Services for inmate trust deposits and commissary orders. The jail uses NCIC Inmate Communications for calls. The Sheriff’s current inmate-services page lists domestic calls at 21 cents per minute and international calls at 50 cents per minute, with NCIC account assistance available at 800-943-2189.

How do I find an approved bail bond company for Kaufman County Jail?

Use the Approved Bail Bond Companies link provided in the official Kaufman County Sheriff’s Jail Info section. Before paying anyone, confirm the inmate, charge, bond amount and any additional holds with the jail. The Kaufman County Pretrial Bond Supervision Department supervises qualifying people after release but is not a substitute for verifying the bond with the jail or court.

Does the Kaufman County Jail roster show the final court outcome?

No. The jail roster is primarily a custody and booking tool. Use Kaufman County’s official Tyler Odyssey court portal to follow the criminal case. County Clerk records generally cover misdemeanor criminal matters in the County Courts at Law, while the District Clerk maintains district-court records including felony cases.
