Find a New Guadalupe County Booking Before You Chase the Wrong Record

If you just heard that someone was arrested in Seguin, Schertz, Cibolo, Marion or elsewhere in Guadalupe County, start with the county’s live jail records—not a social-media post or a copied mugshot page. Search the booked name or booking number, then narrow the result with the birth date and booking date when possible.

Once you find the booking, save the booking number, arresting agency, booking date, charges, bond information and release status. Those details tell you what to do next: call the jail, contact a bondsman, request the police report, schedule a visit or locate the criminal court case.

A recent booking is not proof of guilt. The jail record documents an arrest and custody event. Charges can be rejected, changed, dismissed or resolved differently after magistration and prosecutor review.

What the recent-arrest fields mean

A jail booking tells you what happened at intake—not necessarily how the case ended
Field What it helps identify What it does not prove Best next step
Booking number One jail intake event. That every charge became a prosecuted case. Use it when calling Jail Records.
SO number The Sheriff’s identifier associated with the person. That every booking under that person number is the same incident. Use it for mail and detention questions.
Booking date When the person was processed into the jail. The exact time of the alleged offense. Compare it with the arrest report and offense date.
Release date When the displayed detention event ended, if a date is posted. That the criminal charge was dismissed. Check the criminal court disposition.
Arresting agency The law-enforcement agency connected to the arrest. That the jail owns the police report. Request the incident narrative from that agency.
Charge An accusation connected to the booking. Guilt or final prosecutor action. Locate the filed misdemeanor or felony case.
Offense date A date connected to the alleged offense. That the person was arrested on the same date. Compare with booking and report dates.
Bond amount A release condition associated with a charge. That paying one amount clears every charge. Call the jail and verify all active holds.
Bond type Whether the entry involves cash, surety, personal or another bond condition. That release processing is complete. Confirm the latest magistrate or court order.
Booking photo A custody-processing image when displayed. Guilt or identity by itself. Match the photo with DOB and booking number.
Do not identify someone from a photo or name alone. Match the date of birth plus at least one other strong identifier such as booking number, SO number, booking date or court case.
New arrest not showing

What to check before assuming the arrest never happened

Booking is still in progress The Sheriff says processing includes searching the prisoner, completing the arrest report, fingerprinting and photographing.
The person is waiting for magistration After processing, the person can remain in a holding cell until the magistrate reviews the charges and bail.
The name is entered differently Try the surname, middle name, suffix, hyphenated name, former name or spelling variation.
The person was released quickly Add a release-date range rather than searching only for people you expect to be in custody.
It was a citation instead of a jail booking A criminal or municipal case can exist without a lengthy county-jail stay.
The person was booked in another county Search the jail where the person was physically taken, not simply where they live.
The record is legally restricted Juvenile, expunged and other confidential information may not be publicly searchable.
The portal is not responding Call the jail-records line rather than using an unofficial roster as proof of custody.

What happens after arrest

The Guadalupe County booking-to-magistrate sequence

Arrival at the detention center The arrested person is brought to the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center for processing.
Search and arrest paperwork Detention staff process the individual and complete required arrest and booking documentation.
Fingerprints and photograph Identification processing includes fingerprinting and photographing.
Holding cell After processing, the person can be held pending magistration.
Magistrate review The magistrate advises the defendant of the charges and constitutional rights and determines bail and release conditions.
Attorney appointment when appropriate The Magistrate Court says it can facilitate or make an appointment of counsel for an eligible defendant.
Case moves to the filing court The eventual plea and prosecution occur in the appropriate District Court, County Court at Law, Municipal Court or Justice Court—not during magistration.
Guadalupe-specific point: Magistrate Court is held every day, including holidays. The Magistrate Court office is at 2615 N. Guadalupe Street, the same address as the Adult Detention Center.
Guadalupe County Magistrate Court
2615 N. Guadalupe Street
Seguin, TX 78155
Clerk contact: 830-303-4188 ext. 2330
Do not call the Magistrate Court to privately argue the facts of a pending case. The county specifically notes that judges and court staff are restricted from improper private communications about the merits of pending proceedings.
Custody and release

How to tell whether the person is still in Guadalupe County Jail

Open the same booking record Do not start a second search if you already saved the booking number.
Look for a release date or current custody indication A completed release field usually shows that the displayed detention event has ended.
Check every charge A bond or release condition attached to one charge does not necessarily clear another charge or warrant.
Call before driving to Seguin Online information can change while release paperwork is being completed.
Keep following the court case Release from jail does not mean the criminal case is dismissed or finished.
Released is not the same as cleared. A person can be released on bond, personal bond or another condition while the prosecution remains pending.
Bail and bond

Verify bond after magistration—not from an old screenshot

Cash bond

The accused posts the required amount as security for appearing in court. The Sheriff advises users to verify the actual procedure with the appropriate clerk.

Surety bond

A licensed bail-bond company posts the bond under an agreement with the defendant. The defendant typically pays the bondsman according to that private agreement.

Personal bond

The defendant may be released without posting the full dollar amount, subject to the court’s agreement and release conditions.

Why the amount changes

The magistrate can consider factors such as residence, employment, prior failures to appear and seriousness of the alleged offense.

Verify the booking number and SO number Make sure you are discussing the correct person.
List every charge Do not ask only for “the bond.” Ask for the current status of each charge.
Ask whether magistration is complete Bail may not be final before judicial review.
Ask about additional holds Another warrant or agency hold can affect release even when one bond is posted.
Use a licensed bondsman when choosing surety Guadalupe County is a Bail Bond Board county.
Ask for the approved list The Sheriff’s Office says an approved list of bonding companies is available at the office.
Do not ask jail staff to recommend one company Sheriff employees may not contact or recommend a bondsman for you.

Booking report vs. police report

Use the arresting agency when you need the incident narrative

A jail booking is not the full police report. The Adult Detention Center can hold someone arrested by the Sheriff, Seguin Police, Schertz Police, another municipal department, a constable, DPS or another agency.

Parking and arrival

The current detention page does not publish a dedicated visitor-parking instruction or fee. Check the map before leaving and call Visitation at 830-303-6342 ext. 2270 if you need current arrival or entrance guidance rather than relying on an old third-party parking description.

Mail, calls and inmate funds

Use the SO number before sending anything

Personal letters

The current county page says non-privileged incoming mail is sent to the jail’s mail vendor and digitally delivered on the secure inmate tablet.

Include:

  • the inmate’s full booked name;
  • the inmate’s SO number;
  • the sender’s full name; and
  • the sender’s complete return address.

Current vendor address published by the county:

Legal / privileged mail

Privileged mail is sent directly to the detention center:

  • Staff do not deliver ordinary phone messages.
  • Housing-unit phones are available 7:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m.
  • Calls have a 20-minute maximum.
  • Calls are monitored and recorded.
  • Collect and prepaid calls are available.

Books, magazines, newspapers and photos

Books and magazines

They must be ordered and mailed directly from the publisher to 2615 N. Guadalupe Street.

Newspapers

They are accepted only through subscription and are mailed directly to the detention center. The county says newspapers more than seven days old are disposed of.

Photos

Photos go to the digital-mail vendor at PO Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131 and are digitally delivered. Nude or sexually explicit images are prohibited.

Physical photo copies

The detention center says it does not print physical photos for inmates and does not accept physical photos directly at the facility.

Avoid discussing the criminal case on normal jail calls. The Sheriff explicitly states that inmate telephone calls are monitored and recorded.
Property and clothing

Know what family can—and cannot—bring to the jail

Personal property pickup

Property can be picked up Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., excluding county holidays.

  • The inmate must complete a property-release form.
  • The form must identify the person receiving the property.
  • The recipient must present state-issued identification.
Court clothing

The official detention page says an inmate may receive court clothes only when going to a jury trial.

A released inmate who lacks appropriate clothing to leave the facility may be issued indigent clothing.

When a transferred inmate cannot take property and does not arrange for pickup, the county says property may be destroyed or donated to indigent after 30 days.
Attorney and victim help

Ask for counsel during the court process—not from a bond company

Court-appointed attorney

Guadalupe County Magistrate Court says the judge can facilitate or make appointment of an attorney when appropriate.

The defendant should clearly request appointed counsel if they cannot afford an attorney and complete any required indigency paperwork.

Private criminal lawyer

Verify Texas license status and ask about experience in the specific Guadalupe County court handling the charge.

A bail bondsman gets someone released under a bond agreement; a bondsman does not replace defense counsel.

Guadalupe County expunction routing is unusually useful

The District Clerk publishes a current local list of agencies commonly involved in an expunction, including:

  • Guadalupe County District Clerk;
  • Guadalupe County Clerk;
  • Guadalupe County Attorney;
  • Guadalupe County Sheriff;
  • Guadalupe County Magistrate Office;
  • Guadalupe County Adult Probation;
  • Texas Office of Court Administration;
  • Texas Department of Criminal Justice; and
  • Texas Department of Public Safety.

Six Guadalupe County mistakes that are easy to avoid

Do not confuse 2615 and 2617

The Adult Detention Center is at 2615 N. Guadalupe Street. The Sheriff’s administrative office is at 2617.

Do not call the Clerk for a cell status

Use Jail Records ext. 2239 for booking and detention questions.

Do not request every police report from HCSO

Use the arresting agency shown in the booking record.

Do not mail ordinary letters to the jail

Current non-privileged mail uses the county’s digital-mail vendor route.

Do not bring a purse or phone into visitation

The county says visitors may bring only identification and keys.

Do not treat release as dismissal

10 recent-arrest questions

Guadalupe County booking questions answered

How do I find recent arrests in Guadalupe County Texas?

Open the official Guadalupe County Records Inquiry portal from the Sheriff’s Records Search page and choose Jail Records. Search by the person’s name or booking number and narrow the results with date of birth, booking-date or release-date filters when available. Open the booking number to review the individual booking details.

Can I search Guadalupe County bookings from today or yesterday?

Use the booking-date range in the Guadalupe County jail records search to narrow results to the day or days you need. Guadalupe County does not publish a guaranteed fixed definition of recent arrests, so using the live booking-date filter is more reliable than relying on a static third-party recent-arrest list.

What information appears in a Guadalupe County booking record?

The public jail inquiry can show information such as the defendant’s name, date of birth, booking number, booking date, release date when applicable, arresting agency and charges. Opening the detailed booking can provide additional charge, bond, offense and custody information when publicly available.

Why is a new Guadalupe County arrest not showing online yet?

The person may still be going through booking, may be listed under a different spelling, may have been released quickly, may have received a citation rather than being jailed, or may have been booked in another county. The Sheriff’s official page says booking involves searching, completing the arrest report, fingerprinting and photographing before the person is held pending magistration. Call Jail Records at 830-303-6342 extension 2239 when the online result remains unclear.

Is a Guadalupe County booking report the same as the police arrest report?

No. The jail booking record documents intake, custody, charges and related jail information. The offense or arrest report is generally maintained by the law-enforcement agency whose officer handled the incident. If Seguin Police or Schertz Police made the arrest, request that agency’s report rather than assuming the Sheriff’s jail maintains the complete police narrative.

How do I find bond information for a Guadalupe County inmate?

Review the booking details in the county Records Inquiry portal and call the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center at 830-303-6342 to confirm current bond information. Guadalupe County is a Bail Bond Board county, so surety companies must be licensed. The Sheriff’s Office says employees cannot recommend or contact a bondsman for you.

How can I tell if someone has been released from Guadalupe County Jail?

Search the jail record using the person’s name or booking number and review the release-date information. Because release status can change after a search is viewed, call Jail Records at 830-303-6342 extension 2239 when you need current confirmation before travelling to the detention center.

How do I find the court case after a Guadalupe County arrest?

Use the Guadalupe County Judicial Records Search after locating the booking. Misdemeanor criminal court records are handled through the County Clerk, while felony district-court records are handled through the District Clerk. Compare the name, case number, filing date and charge rather than assuming the original booking charge is the final court charge.

How do I request a Guadalupe County Sheriff’s arrest or incident report?

Submit a written request to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office through its current Open Records process or email so.openrecords@guadalupetx.gov. The Sheriff’s page lists report copies at 5 dollars each with 10 cents per page after 10 pages, recordings at 75 dollars and research or assembling information at 25 dollars per hour. Confirm current charges before paying.

Does a recent Guadalupe County arrest mean the person was convicted?

No. A booking records an arrest and detention event, not guilt. After the arrest, a magistrate reviews the charges and bail, and prosecutors decide what charges proceed in court. Search the appropriate Guadalupe County court record to find the filed charge and disposition.
