See Who Entered the Galveston County Jail—and Where They Are in the Process
If someone was arrested recently, use the Sheriff’s Recent Arrests feed first. If you are checking one particular person, switch to Inmate Inquiry because that screen is better for confirming the arrest date, booking agency, primary charge, release status, next court date and total bond.
A missing result does not automatically mean the person was released or never booked. Galveston County actually explains what happens before a new intake reaches the roster: officers check the arrest paperwork, return errors for correction, place accepted paperwork in the booking queue, then complete questions, photographs and usually fingerprints.

Galveston County Jail booking questions answered
How do I find recent Galveston County Jail bookings?
Use the Galveston County Sheriff’s Police to Citizen Recent Arrests page for the recent arrest feed. If you are looking for one person or need custody details, switch to Inmate Inquiry and search by last and first name. The inmate list can show the name, race, sex, age, primary charge, arrest date and booking agency, while the individual detail page can show release date, next court date and total bond amount.
Why is a new Galveston County arrest not showing in the jail database yet?
A person may still be in the booking queue. The Sheriff’s Corrections Division says incoming paperwork is checked first. Missing or incorrect paperwork is returned to the arresting officer for correction. After the paperwork is accepted, the person enters the booking queue for intake questions, photographs and usually fingerprints. Call the jail at 409-766-2315 if a recent arrest still cannot be located.
Is the Galveston County Recent Arrests page the same as the current inmate roster?
No. Recent Arrests is useful for browsing recently posted arrests, while Inmate Inquiry is the better tool when you need to search a particular person and review custody-related fields. A person can also be released after an arrest, so always open the individual inmate detail instead of assuming that appearance on the Recent Arrests page means the person remains in jail.
What information appears in Galveston County Inmate Inquiry?
The public inmate list includes fields for name, race, sex, age, primary charge, arrest date and booking agency. When an individual record is opened, the P2C detail page can also show an image, release date, next court date and total bond amount.
How long can Galveston County booking take?
The Sheriff does not publish a guaranteed booking time. The Corrections Division explains that paperwork is reviewed before the person enters the booking queue, and errors must be corrected by the arresting officer. Intake also includes questions, photographs and usually fingerprints. Because the queue and paperwork vary, readers should not rely on a fixed number of hours.
When does someone arrested in Galveston County see a magistrate?
Galveston County Magistrate Court states that magistrate court is held twice a day in the jail and that a person arrested in Galveston County is presented before a magistrate no later than 24 hours after arrest. The county also states that people unable to post their monetary bond conditions are reviewed within 12 hours of the initial hearing.
Can I apply for a Galveston County personal bond for an inmate?
No. The Galveston County Personal Bond Office states that a defendant cannot independently apply for a personal bond. Personal bonds must be approved and ordered by the presiding judge. The office currently states that the fee is 3 percent of the amount ordered by the magistrate and that payment may be required before release or assessed as court costs.
How many visits can a Galveston County Jail inmate receive?
The Sheriff’s current visitation information states one visit per day, up to two visits per week and up to two visitors per visit. One child may visit with an adult. Visitors age 16 or older must have proper identification, and a visitor may not visit more than one inmate in the same day.
How do I verify what happened to a Galveston County jail charge in court?
Use the current Galveston County Tyler Odyssey Portal rather than the retired legacy Public Access system. County Courts at Law handle criminal misdemeanors under the County Clerk, while the District Clerk maintains records for criminal cases in the district courts. Compare the defendant name, case number, filing date and charge before relying on the court result.
How do I request a Galveston County Sheriff’s arrest or incident report?
Submit the request in writing to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Records Division. The Sheriff’s Office currently accepts requests by email, mail or hand delivery. The published records email is GCSOrecords@co.galveston.tx.us, the address is 601 54th Street, Galveston, Texas 77551, and the Records Division phone number is 409-766-2320.
