Find a New Brazos County Jail Intake Without Guessing What Happens Next
If someone was arrested in Bryan, College Station or elsewhere in Brazos County, start with the county’s official jail records. The Sheriff directs users to the Justice Web Smart Search for people currently in the Detention Center as well as people who have been there before.
A very new arrest may still be moving through fingerprints, photographs, medical screening, property inventory, magistration or classification. If the person is not online yet, use the booking number below instead of repeatedly refreshing third-party mugshot sites.
Once the booking appears, this guide shows what to save, how to check bond and court records, when visitation becomes practical, how to send mail or money correctly and how an incarcerated defendant can request appointed counsel.

Brazos County jail booking FAQs
How do I see recent Brazos County jail bookings?
Use the official Brazos County jail records or Justice Web portal. The Sheriff’s instructions direct users to Smart Search to find someone who is currently in the Brazos County Detention Center or who has previously been there. Search the person’s name and open the matching jail record. If a very recent arrest is not yet visible, call Booking at 979-361-4811 or the 24-hour Detention Center line at 979-361-4800.
Does Brazos County publish a separate daily recent-bookings list?
The current Sheriff’s public instructions emphasize the Jail Records and Justice Web Smart Search rather than advertising a separate official last-24-hours booking feed. For a recent arrest, search the named person in the official portal. If you need an official historical date of incarceration, the Sheriff’s published records fee schedule lists that record separately.
Why is a new Brazos County booking not showing online yet?
A new arrival may still be going through intake. Brazos County describes booking work as including criminal-history checks, fingerprinting, photographing, property inventory, medical screening, personal-history documentation, orientation, classification and cell assignment. The county does not publish a guaranteed online posting time. Call Booking at 979-361-4811 when the arrest is very recent and the online result is still missing.
How do I search for a current or former Brazos County inmate?
Open the official Brazos County Justice Web portal and choose Smart Search. The Sheriff’s instructions state that Smart Search can be used for someone currently in jail or someone who has previously been in the Brazos County Detention Center. Searches may also be refined with case information. Verify the person with more than a name before relying on the record.
What is the SO number used for at the Brazos County Jail?
The Sheriff’s current mail instructions require the inmate’s name and SO number. Save the SO number from the inmate or jail record because it helps identify the correct person for correspondence and other jail services. Do not rely on a name alone when two people have similar names.
Can I get a Brazos County jail mugshot or proof of incarceration?
The Sheriff’s current published records fee page lists a $5 fee for dates of incarceration and a $5 fee for mugshots. It also lists a $1 certified statement entry and jail-file copies at $0.50 per page when produced through subpoena. Confirm the current fee and identification requirements with Sheriff’s Records before paying.
How do I check bond after a Brazos County jail booking?
Review the jail or court record, then call the Brazos County Detention Center at 979-361-4800 if the current bond is unclear. Brazos County recognizes cash, surety and court-authorized personal-recognizance bonds. A surety company must be licensed by the Brazos County Bail Bond Board to post a surety bond for someone held in the county jail.
How soon can I visit someone after a Brazos County booking?
Visitation depends on the person completing enough of the intake and classification process to have access to jail services. All visits must be scheduled online. Brazos County provides onsite video visitation and paid remote options. The published live-video schedule is daily from 1:00–4:00 p.m. and 5:00–7:00 p.m., while Video on Demand is available daily from 9:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.
How do I send mail or money after someone is booked into Brazos County Jail?
For personal letters, use Smart Communications/Brazos Co Det Center, the inmate’s name and SO number, P.O. Box 9147, Seminole, FL 33775-9147. Do not send money orders or packages to that correspondence address. Brazos County links Tiger Commissary for inmate trust deposits and commissary orders. SmartInmate is used for communication services such as messaging and video.
How does someone request a court-appointed lawyer after a Brazos County jail booking?
Brazos County states that incarcerated defendants are given an opportunity to complete an Affidavit in Support of Court Appointed Attorney before magistrate warnings. A person who remains jailed can ask jail personnel for an application. If the person bonds out within three days after applying, Brazos County says a new affidavit must be completed and forwarded as instructed by the court or Indigent Defense Office.
