Find the Case First—Then Ask the Right Brazos County Clerk for the Document
If you only need to know whether a case exists, who the parties are, which court has it or when the next hearing is scheduled, start with Brazos County’s official Judicial Records Search. Use Smart Search for court cases and Search Hearings for court dates.
The part that trips people up is document access. Brazos County says that since September 1, 2019, most document images are no longer available through JusticeWeb. So once you find the case, save the cause number and court, then request the actual judgment, disposition, indictment, petition or certified copy from the clerk who keeps that record.

Why Brazos County court documents may not open online
This is not necessarily an error. Save the cause number and request the document from the proper clerk.
The county specifically states that access to Probable Cause Statements was not affected by the 2019 document-access change.
Actual court records remain available through the District Clerk, County Clerk or appropriate Justice of the Peace clerk, subject to legal access restrictions.
District Clerk, County Clerk or JP Clerk?
The court that hears a matter and the office that keeps the record are not always obvious from the case type. Brazos County’s own court pages direct different filings and copy questions to different clerks.

A hearing transcript is not the same thing as a clerk copy

A transcript of what was said during a hearing is prepared through the court reporter and follows the procedure of the specific court.

Brazos County court-record search FAQs
How do I search Brazos County court records online?
Use the official Brazos County Judicial Records Search, also called JusticeWeb. Choose Smart Search to look for court records or Search Hearings to locate scheduled hearings. A cause or case number is the most precise search key. If you only know a name, check every plausible result and compare the court, case type, filing date and other identifiers before relying on it.
Why can I find a Brazos County case online but not open the court documents?
Brazos County states that beginning September 1, 2019 most document images are no longer accessible through JusticeWeb. Probable Cause Statements were not affected by that change. When the case is visible but the document is not, request the record from the District Clerk, County Clerk or appropriate Justice of the Peace clerk.
Which office has Brazos County criminal court records?
The Brazos County District Clerk is responsible for filings and documents in misdemeanor and felony criminal cases in the district and county courts. Felony cases are generally heard in the District Courts, while many Class A and Class B misdemeanor matters are heard in the County Courts at Law. Use JusticeWeb to identify the cause and court before requesting copies.
Which office has Brazos County civil court records?
The correct clerk depends on the case type. The District Clerk maintains civil cases over $500 along with family, juvenile and tax cases. The County Clerk handles certain probate, guardianship, condemnation and other county-clerk matters. Justice of the Peace courts handle evictions, small claims, debt claims and other matters within justice-court jurisdiction.
How much does a Brazos County District Clerk court record search cost?
The current Brazos County District Clerk fee page lists a $5 search-request fee. Regular and electronic copies are $1 per page. Certified copies cost $1 per page plus a $5 certification fee. Verify the current fee before paying because county fees can change.
How do I get a certified disposition from Brazos County?
First locate the criminal cause in JusticeWeb and save the cause number, defendant name and court. Then submit the Brazos County District Clerk records request in writing and specify that you need the final disposition, judgment or other identified document certified. The current published certification charge is $5 plus $1 per page.
How do I find my Brazos County court date?
Use Search Hearings in the official Judicial Records Search portal or check the county’s Court Dockets page. Search Hearings can be narrowed by location, hearing type, case number, party name, business name, attorney name, attorney bar number or judicial officer and a date range. Published dockets are subject to change, so confirm important settings with the court.
How far back does a Brazos County District Clerk records search go?
The District Clerk’s official written records-request form states that unless otherwise specified, requested criminal and civil searches include records from 1992 to the present. For an older matter, provide the approximate year, party names, case type and any known cause number and ask the clerk how the older record should be searched.
Can I request Brazos County court records by phone?
The District Clerk requires civil and criminal record and copy requests to be made through its records-request process, including its online request form or written form. The County Clerk also states that formal record searches must be submitted in writing with the required search fee. Calling the office is useful for confirming the correct department, but a phone call does not replace the required records request.
Are Brazos County Justice of the Peace cases included in the same court system?
JusticeWeb can include Justice of the Peace case and hearing information, but the individual JP clerk remains the record custodian for its cases. Justice Courts handle fine-only criminal misdemeanors, evictions, small claims, debt claims and civil matters within their statutory jurisdiction. If a document is unavailable online, contact the appropriate precinct clerk.
