Read Today’s Booking, Bond and Release Status in the Right Order
Jefferson County gives you three useful ways to check a recent arrest: a past-24-hour arrest report, a current inmate roster, and a searchable Sheriff inmate database. They answer slightly different questions, so using the right one first saves time.
If someone was just arrested, start with Daily Arrests. If you need current custody, charges or a quick bond check, open the roster. For a more detailed individual record—including booking date, arresting agency and bond conditions—use the interactive inmate search.

A new Jefferson County arrest may be between intake steps
Jefferson County’s Intake Section describes several steps before ordinary housing: search and property inventory, identification processing, medical screening, booking, notice of charges and release options, followed by classification when the person remains in custody.
Use the cause number to learn what happened after booking
The booking record can show the accusation that brought the person into custody. The filed criminal case tells you what the prosecutor actually pursued.

Before paying anything
A bond payment is only one checkpoint in the release process
Jefferson County’s Releasing Section lists several common ways custody ends: posting bond, satisfying fine requirements, receiving credit for time served, a District Attorney refusal, or an order committing the person to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
The Magistrate decides more than the dollar amount of bail
Jefferson County Magistrate Court is where defendants first appear soon after arrest. Magistration is scheduled every day, including holidays.
The Magistrate reviews whether probable cause supports the arrest and detention.
The judge decides whether bail should be set, considers personal bond and can issue conditions of release.
An indigency application can be provided and appointed counsel may be facilitated or ordered when appropriate.

Jefferson County booking, bond and release questions answered
How do I find Jefferson County Texas booking records?
Use the Jefferson County Sheriff’s official Inmate Search for a searchable current record. For a very recent arrest, also check the Sheriff’s Daily Arrests PDF, which covers a rolling published 24-hour booking period. The Current Inmate Roster is useful for scanning people who are presently listed in custody, along with charges, bond amounts, arresting agencies and cause or warrant numbers.
Where can I see Jefferson County arrests from the past 24 hours?
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office publishes a Daily Arrests PDF titled Jefferson County Jail Arrests For Past 24 Hours. The report shows the published 24-hour booking window, name, age, booking date and time, arresting agency, charge, bond amount, warrant or cause number and offense-degree code.
What information appears in the Jefferson County inmate search?
Current inmate detail pages can show an Arrest ID, booking date, arresting agency, identifying information, charges, offense-degree codes, bond amounts and bond conditions. Use the information to locate the correct person, but verify filed charges and the final outcome through the appropriate Jefferson County court record.
Why is a recent Jefferson County arrest not showing yet?
The person may still be going through identification, medical screening and booking, may have been released quickly, may be listed under another spelling, or may have been booked in another county. Check both the Daily Arrests report and current inmate search, then call Book-In at 409-726-2540 when the status remains unclear.
What does N/A or a blank bond amount mean on a Jefferson County booking record?
Do not assume that N/A or a blank bond field means the person can be released without payment or can never be released. The charge may involve a hold, a bond decision that has not posted, a parole or other process, or another condition. Check every charge and bond condition and call Book-In at 409-726-2540 for the current release requirement.
Does paying one Jefferson County bond guarantee release?
No. A person may have multiple charges, warrants, bond conditions or holds. Before paying, review every entry on the inmate record and confirm with Book-In that all matters affecting release have been identified. The Sheriff’s current inmate roster also tells users to call 409-726-2540 for bond and fee details.
Does Jefferson County Texas accept e-bonds?
No. The Jefferson County Bail Bond Board expressly states that Jefferson County does not accept e-bonds. A professional surety must be licensed in Jefferson County before securing bail for someone incarcerated in a Jefferson County jail facility. Use the Bail Bond Board’s current approved list rather than an unsolicited caller.
Who do I call about Jefferson County inmate release status?
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office lists the Releases line as 409-726-2541. Book-In is 409-726-2540 and the Correctional Facility main number is 409-726-2500. Have the person’s full booked name, booking or Arrest ID if known, date of birth and charges ready when calling.
How do I verify what happened to a Jefferson County booking charge?
Use the cause or case number shown with the booking record. Felony cases filed in District Court are maintained by the Jefferson County District Clerk, which provides a criminal index. Class A and Class B misdemeanor cases filed in County Court are maintained by the County Clerk. A booking allegation is not the same thing as a final court disposition.
How do I request an older Jefferson County arrest or booking record?
For Sheriff-held records, email records@jeffersoncountytx.gov or use the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Records Request page. Include the report number when known, incident or arrest date, approximate time, involved names, type of incident and your contact and mailing information. If another police department created the offense report, request that report from the arresting agency.
