Check Current Inmates Separately From the 24-Hour Booking List

Jefferson County gives you three useful ways to check a jail booking: a searchable inmate database, a downloadable current-inmate roster and a separate Daily Arrests report. They answer different questions, so choosing the right one can save several calls.

If you are worried about someone arrested today, start with the live Sheriff search. Verify the Arrest ID, booking date and arresting agency, then check every charge and bond entry. If the person is missing or you need release information, the Book In and Releases numbers are included below.

Last name Full booked name Date of birth Arrest ID Approximate booking date Arresting agency
JEFFERSON COUNTY ROSTER DISPATCH LIVE STATUS
BOOKING INTAKE
INMATE ROSTER Who is listed in custody
DAILY ARRESTS Who entered during the reporting window
BOOKING ROUTED TO THE RIGHT LIST
A roster entry is not a conviction. Charges in a jail record are accusations connected with custody. Prosecutors may change, decline or dismiss charges, and a court may reach a different outcome. Check the court record before describing an arrest as a conviction.

BEST FOR ONE PERSON Live Inmate Search

Use this when you know the name and need the most readable individual result. Current cards can show Arrest ID, physical identifiers, booking date, agency, charges, degree codes, bonds and bond conditions.

Open live inmate search
BEST FOR THE FULL ROSTER Current Inmates PDF

Use the Sheriff’s roster when you want to scan the current custody population alphabetically. The document includes name, demographic fields, booking time, arrest agency, charges, bond amounts, warrant or cause numbers and degree codes.

BEST FOR A VERY NEW ARREST Daily Arrests PDF

This is a booking-window report, not a guaranteed current-custody list. The top of the PDF states the exact beginning and ending time for the 24-hour period it covers.

Open Daily Arrests
Easy rule: Use Daily Arrests to answer “was this person booked recently?” Use the live inmate search or Current Inmates roster to answer “is this person showing in the jail system now?”

Which law-enforcement agency made or reported the arrest.
That the Sheriff created the offense narrative.
Request the police report from that agency.

The allegation connected with the booking entry.
Guilt or the final prosecutor-filed offense.
Find the corresponding criminal court case.

Common degree abbreviations

F1 / F2 / F3

First-, second- or third-degree felony.

FS

State-jail felony.

MA / MB / MC

Class A, B or C misdemeanor.

UNK / other codes

Do not guess. Use the warrant or cause number and verify with the jail or originating court.

“N/A” does not answer the release question. If the public card shows N/A for a bond, call Book In and check the court or magistrate information. It can be unsafe to assume N/A means no bond, no payment or automatic release.
When the person is not online

A fresh arrest can happen before the roster catches up

Jefferson County’s legacy official inmate search says that after an inmate is processed, the details should be searchable within about an hour. That does not mean every newly arrested person will appear within one hour of the street arrest because the intake process itself comes first.
Still in intake Search, property inventory, identification and medical screening can happen before the completed booking is publicly searchable.
Name entered differently Try only the surname. Check hyphens, suffixes, maiden names and alternate spellings.
Very short custody Someone booked and released may no longer appear where you expect. Check Daily Arrests and call Releases.
Wrong county An arrest near Jefferson County can result in booking in another county or another custody system.
Citation instead of booking A lower-level case can exist without a normal county-jail stay.
Transfer or outside hold The person may move to another jurisdiction, state custody or federal custody.
Restricted information Juvenile, sealed and other protected records may not be publicly searchable.
Search system mismatch Compare the newer live search, Current Inmates PDF and Daily Arrests list before concluding no booking exists.
What to say when calling Book In
I am trying to confirm whether [full legal name], date of birth [date], was booked into Jefferson County on or about [date/time]. The arresting agency may have been [agency]. I do not see a clear current result online. Can you confirm whether the person is still processing, currently booked, released or transferred?
Why roster publication can take time

What happens during Jefferson County jail intake

The Sheriff’s Corrections information describes a specific intake sequence. Knowing it helps explain why a family member may know an arrest happened even though the public roster has not populated yet.

Search The person is searched upon entering the facility.
Property inventory Personal property is taken, logged and bagged.
Identification The person is processed through the facility’s Identification section.
Medical screening Intake includes screening for obvious injuries and other immediate medical concerns.
Booking The person is booked and advised of charges and any available means of release.
Temporary housing If release is not secured, the person changes into a facility uniform and enters temporary housing.
Classification After booking, the facility classifies inmates into appropriate custody levels such as high, medium, low-risk or trustee status.
What this means for families: “Not on the roster yet” and “not in Jefferson County custody” are not always the same thing during a fresh intake.
Bond and release

Check all charges before paying anything

Jefferson County states that it does not accept e-bonds. Be cautious with any website or caller claiming they can electronically file a Jefferson County surety bond for you. Verify any bondsman through the Jefferson County Bail Bond Board.
Verify the correct inmate Match the booked name, Arrest ID and booking date.
Write down every charge One arrest can contain multiple cases and release conditions.
Record each displayed bond Do not add numbers together or assume the first line represents the complete amount without confirmation.
Treat N/A as unresolved Ask the jail or court what the current release status is for that particular charge.
Check bond conditions The live roster can display conditions in addition to the dollar amount.
Ask about warrants, parole issues and other holds Another matter can keep someone in custody after a separate bond has been satisfied.
Verify a surety company Jefferson County requires a bail bondsman to be licensed locally before securing bail for someone in a Jefferson County jail.
Keep the receipt Preserve the inmate name, case or warrant number, payment amount, payer name and any surety paperwork.
Exact-cash warning on the Sheriff roster: The official Current Inmates PDF states that bond and fees must be paid with exact cash and directs readers to call 409-726-2540 for details. Confirm the current amount before travelling with cash.

Cash bond

The Jefferson County Magistrate explains that a defendant may deposit U.S. currency in the amount of the bond with the Sheriff instead of using sureties when legally permitted.

Always obtain and keep the official receipt.

Surety bond

Use the county’s approved-company list. Do not choose solely from an unsolicited call, text, social-media message or search advertisement.

Open Jefferson County Bail Bond Board

Can you confirm the current release requirement for every charge, whether any bond is still pending or listed as N/A, and whether there is another warrant, parole matter or hold preventing release?

What can end Jefferson County jail custody?

The Sheriff’s Corrections information identifies several ways a person may leave county-jail custody, including posting an eligible bond, satisfying applicable fine requirements or time-served credit, prosecutor refusal of a case, or transfer/commitment to TDCJ. These outcomes are not legally equivalent.

Release does not mean dismissal. Someone can be out of jail while a criminal case remains pending.
Roster to court

Find what happened to the charge after booking

Jefferson County’s jail documents often show a warrant or cause number. Save it. A cause number is usually far more useful than searching a common name across several courts.

Felony charge

Start with the Jefferson County District Clerk. Its Criminal Division maintains felony and grand-jury case records.

Common roster codes include F1, F2, F3 and FS.

Class A or B misdemeanor

These cases generally proceed through Jefferson County Courts at Law with records maintained through the County Clerk.

A municipal or Justice of the Peace court may hold the controlling record.

Use the warrant/cause number and arresting agency rather than guessing the court.

Copy the warrant or cause number from the roster Examples of county records can contain district, county or JP-style case numbers.
For felonies, open the District Clerk index The county lets users browse criminal cases by filing year, and its older criminal-index search can search across filings by indictment number or defendant name.
Match the defendant name and cause number Do not assume a same-name result belongs to the inmate.
Check the actual filed offense Prosecutor filing can differ from the description that appeared during booking.
Find the current court The appropriate District Court, County Court at Law, municipal court or JP court controls the case after filing.
Look for disposition, not just status Determine whether each charge is pending, dismissed, resolved by plea, deferred, tried or otherwise disposed.

Arrest narrative and police report

The arresting agency—not the jail address—usually tells you where to request the report

Local point that prevents a common mistake: Beaumont Police states that it does not operate its own jail. People arrested by Beaumont PD are housed at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. That means the Sheriff may have the custody record while Beaumont Police has the police report.

10 roster questions

Jefferson County jail roster questions answered

How do I search the Jefferson County Texas jail roster?

Use the Jefferson County Sheriff’s official Inmate Search for the easiest individual lookup. Search by name, open the matching inmate card and verify the Arrest ID, age, booking date and arresting agency before relying on the record. The Sheriff also publishes a Current Inmates PDF when you want to scan the full roster.

What is the difference between the Jefferson County inmate roster and Daily Arrests list?

The Current Inmates roster is a snapshot of people listed in Jefferson County custody when the roster is generated. The Daily Arrests PDF lists subjects booked during the past 24-hour reporting window shown at the top of that document. Someone on the Daily Arrests list may later be released, so check the live inmate search before assuming the person remains in jail.

How quickly does a new Jefferson County booking appear online?

Jefferson County’s legacy official inmate-search page states that once an inmate has been processed, details should be available for search within about an hour. Processing itself can take additional time because intake includes searching, property inventory, identification, medical screening and booking. If the person still does not appear, call Book In at 409-726-2540.

What information does the Jefferson County inmate search show?

The current Sheriff search can show the inmate’s Arrest ID, age, sex, race, hair and eye color, height, weight, booking date, arresting agency, charge descriptions, degree codes, bond amounts and bond conditions. Use several fields to verify identity rather than relying only on a name or photograph.

What does N/A under bond amount mean on the Jefferson County roster?

N/A means the public inmate result is not displaying a bond amount for that particular charge. It should not be interpreted by itself as a promise of release, a zero-dollar bond or proof that the person cannot bond out. Check every charge and bond condition and call Book In at 409-726-2540 when the release requirement is unclear.

How do I check whether a Jefferson County inmate has been released?

Recheck the live Sheriff inmate search and Current Inmates roster. If the person disappears from current custody or release is actively being processed, call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Releases section at 409-726-2541. A release from jail does not mean the criminal charge was dismissed, so check the appropriate court record separately.

How do I visit someone in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility?

Verify that the person is still housed at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and obtain the current housing information before scheduling. The county lists the visitation number as 409-726-2565 and the Sheriff maintains an official visitation page and schedule. Call before traveling because housing assignments and visit schedules can change.

How do I put money on a Jefferson County inmate account?

Keep phone and communication money separate from commissary or trust money. Smart Communications handles phone, messaging and remote-video accounts. The Sheriff’s current money page lists Access Corrections and an automated trust-deposit line at 888-988-4768 for commissary or trust deposits, using site ID 164 for Jefferson County Correctional and site ID 170 for Jefferson Downtown Jail.

How do I request a Jefferson County arrest or offense report?

First identify the arresting agency on the inmate record. For a Sheriff’s Office record, email records@jeffersoncountytx.gov or use the JCSO Records Request page and provide the report number, incident date, approximate time, involved names and incident type when known. If Beaumont Police or another city department made the arrest, request the police report from that agency instead.

Where do I find the final court outcome after a Jefferson County jail booking?

A jail roster is not the final court record. For felony cases, use the Jefferson County District Clerk criminal indexes and the cause or indictment number when available. Misdemeanor cases are generally handled through the Jefferson County Clerk and County Courts at Law. Municipal or Justice of the Peace matters may require the appropriate city or JP court.
