One small detail that matters: the county specifically says older numbers should be searched without hyphens or commas. Copying a modern DC-YYYY-… format onto an older case can make a valid file look missing.

Decide which document you need Ask for a named filing such as the judgment, dismissal order, petition, charging instrument or specific order rather than “everything” unless the entire file is actually necessary.

The County Clerk will not perform your civil or criminal name search. Its official instructions repeatedly tell users to locate the case first and contact the office with the case number when asking for copies.

District Clerk certification has a different workflow. The District Clerk’s e-filing FAQ says a newly signed/file-marked order can be brought to Room 105 for certification within five business days. After that period, the office directs copy requests to Archives at 806-775-1322 or dcarchives@lubbockcounty.gov and states a $1-per-page charge for that certified-order request.

Do not search the main portal for every small claim or Class C case

Lubbock County states that the current main Public Access system contains County Clerk and District Clerk records. Justice of the Peace records are not currently available through that portal.

Justice Courts handle matters such as Class C misdemeanors, small claims, debt claims, evictions and other matters within Justice Court jurisdiction. If the case belongs to a JP court, contact the correct precinct directly.

You are searching a JP case Small claims, evictions and Class C matters may belong to a Justice of the Peace court that is not in the current main portal.

The name is too broad or slightly different Search another spelling and compare attorneys, court, filing year and case type.
