Nueces County Jail Roster Search | Inmate and Booking List

Nueces County, Texas · Current custody, inmate IDs, bookings, bond and criminal cases

Find the Current Jail Entry Before You Plan the Next Step

If someone was just arrested in Corpus Christi or elsewhere in Nueces County, do not waste time looking for a permanent alphabetical roster page that works like every other Texas county. Start with the Sheriff’s current inmate resources, then confirm a recent or unclear booking directly with Jail Information at 361-887-2300.

Once you identify the correct person, save every number you see. Nueces County uses different identifiers for jail mail, money deposits and criminal court searches. This guide shows which one belongs where, how to find charges and bond, how to visit, and how to follow a booking into the District Clerk’s court record.

A jail roster is not a conviction list. A booking shows that someone entered a detention process. Charges can be rejected, amended, dismissed or resolved differently after prosecutor and court review. Verify the final criminal case before treating a booking allegation as a court outcome.

The fastest Nueces County roster search

For current custody: check the Nueces County Sheriff’s official mobile app and its inmate feature when available. If the arrest is recent, the feature is unavailable, or you are unsure whether the person is still housed there, call 361-887-2300.

For an inmate ID needed for mail: use JailATM, which the Sheriff specifically directs families to use for locating the inmate ID.

For charges and the court case: use the Nueces County District Clerk Smart Search. Its advanced filters can search by SO number or booking number, which is especially useful when a common name returns too many cases.

How to find a Nueces County inmate without guessing

Important local difference: Nueces County’s main Sheriff website focuses on jail operations and services rather than presenting a simple always-visible browser roster. The Sheriff’s official mobile app has included an inmate feature, but app features can be unavailable or delayed. For a time-sensitive custody question, use the app as a search tool and the Jail Information desk as the confirmation step.
Start with the Sheriff’s official app Download only the app whose developer is listed as the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office.
Look for the inmate or jail feature in the current version App menus can change. Search the full legal name and compare every available identifier before assuming you found the correct person.
Do not treat an empty screen as proof the person was not arrested A new intake can still be processing, an app feature can be temporarily unavailable, or the person may have been released quickly.
Call Jail Information when timing matters Dial 361-887-2300. Have the full name and date of birth ready.
Ask for the current housing location Confirm whether the person is at the Main Jail, McKinzie Annex or another placement before visiting or driving to a kiosk.
Save every identifier you receive Write down the inmate ID, booking number, SO number or Nueces SID only when the source actually labels it that way.
Write down all charges and bond information separately One person can have more than one case. Do not combine multiple bond amounts into one assumption.
Continue to the District Clerk The jail entry answers custody questions. The criminal court portal is the better place to verify filed charges and disposition.
Quick custody call script
I am trying to confirm the current custody and housing status for [full legal name], date of birth [DOB]. The arrest may have occurred on [date]. Can you confirm whether the person is currently booked, still processing, released, transferred, or housed at another Nueces County location? If available, could you also confirm the identifier I should use for visitation or other jail services?
A common Nueces County mistake

Do not use every inmate number as if it means the same thing

Nueces County services ask for different identifiers. This matters because using the wrong number can misdirect mail, make a court search fail, or cause problems when preparing a mailed deposit.

Inmate ID

Where it matters: personal jail mail and JailATM.

The Sheriff instructs senders to locate the inmate ID through JailATM and place it with the inmate’s full name on the outside of mailed correspondence.

Nueces SID

Where it matters: mailed cashier’s checks and money orders.

The commissary page specifically says to include the inmate’s Nueces SID number, not the State SID number.

SO / Booking Number

Where it matters: District Clerk Smart Search.

Advanced court-search filters include both SO Number and Booking Number, which can narrow a common-name search.

Do not assume these numbers are interchangeable. Copy the exact label shown by the official system and use the identifier requested by the specific service.
No roster result

What to check when a new booking is missing

The booking is still being processed

Intake, identification, medical screening and other processing can occur before information is easy to locate.

The app feature is unavailable

Do not keep refreshing indefinitely. Call Jail Information at 361-887-2300 and continue with the court search when appropriate.

The person was released quickly

A person may no longer be in custody even though a criminal case or arrest record remains.

The name differs from what you expected

Try the legal surname, former name, hyphenated spelling, suffix or another spelling used on identification.

The person received a citation

Nueces County operates a cite-and-release program for qualifying matters. A criminal case can exist without a normal jail stay.

The booking occurred somewhere else

Search the county or agency that physically booked the person rather than assuming every Corpus Christi-area arrest reaches Nueces County Jail.

Useful cross-check: Nueces County District Clerk Smart Search can filter by party name, date of birth, SO number and booking number. A court result can help establish that a case exists even when the jail-side search is temporarily difficult.
Booking to court case

Use Smart Search to verify charges and disposition

The Nueces County District Clerk’s public portal is unusually useful for jail-related research because its advanced search supports SO Number and Booking Number in addition to party information.

Open the official Case Search page Use the county landing page so you can also see current notices about portal availability. Open Nueces County Case Search
Select Smart Search The county’s own help page recommends leaving the location at All Locations and using Smart Search.
Enter a party name as Last Name, First Name The comma matters. For example, use Smith, John, not John Smith.
Use the case number if you already know it The portal allows case-number searching, and the District Clerk says hyphens or dashes can be omitted.
Use Advanced Filtering for a common name Available filters include DOB range, ethnicity, FBI number, SO number, booking number, case type, case status, file-date range and judicial officer.
Use the SO-number shortcut when available The county’s own Smart Search help suggests entering an asterisk (*) in the main search box and placing the SO number in the SO Number filter to target the exact party record.
Open each relevant case number Compare the party name, DOB, filing date and case details with the booking you are researching.
Read the Charge section It can show the party, offense description, statute, level or degree and offense date.
Read Disposition Events This is where you can find the disposition date, offense description, judicial officer and charge disposition.
Check hearings and financial information separately The case page also provides event, hearing, assessment and payment information when available.
Portal error? The District Clerk warns that high traffic can sometimes cause an error. Its published advice is to wait briefly and try again.

02 · PROSECUTOR Filing decision

Bond and release

Check every case before arranging a bond

A bond amount connected with one charge does not automatically mean the person can leave custody. Another case, warrant, hold or later court order may affect release.

Confirm the person’s full booked name and DOB
List every booking or cause number
Write down each charge separately
Ask for the current bond on every case
Ask whether another warrant or hold exists
Confirm whether a later court order changed bond
Verify a private bondsman before paying
Keep the receipt and written agreement

Current visit schedule

Check the last name and housing unit before visiting

Nueces County visitation is not one universal time block. The normal weekend schedule depends on the inmate’s last name, while maximum-security and several housing units use their own schedule.

Saturday

Maximum 9:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m.; check in 9:00–9:30.
A–L 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
M–Z 1:00 p.m.–2:30 p.m.
Special units 5D, 5E, 5G, 5H, 5J, 4D and 1P: 3:30–4:30 p.m.; check in 3:00–3:30.

Special units 5D, 5E, 5G, 5H, 5J, 4D and 1P: 3:30–4:30 p.m.; check in 3:00–3:30.
Additional 4th/5th floor schedule: Effective June 21, 2025, units 4A, 4B, 4C, 4G, 4H, 4J, 4K, 4M, 4N, 5A, 5B, 5C, 5F, 5K and 5L receive visitation on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
For the normal A–L/M–Z sessions, the Sheriff states that visitors must arrive and check in at least 25 minutes before the end of visitation. Do not arrive at the closing time.

Visitor rules people often learn too late

You must be on the inmate’s visitation list
Bring valid government-type photo ID
Visitors under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
A visitor cannot have been incarcerated in the Nueces County Jail within the previous six months
Only one child with one adult visitor is permitted per visit
The adult visitor must also be on the visitation list
No food or drinks
No gum, cigarettes or lighters
No hand-carried items into the visit
Children waiting outside must have adult supervision

Dress rules

The Sheriff’s current rules prohibit shorts, hats, sunglasses, sleeveless shirts or dresses, spandex or other form-fitting clothing, skirts above the knee, low-cut tops, backless tops and transparent clothing.
Mail and electronic correspondence

Personal mail goes through JailATM—not directly to 901 Leopard

Do not address ordinary personal letters to the Main Jail. Nueces County sends non-legal and non-commercial mail through a scanning vendor. The physical original is destroyed after processing and the correspondence is delivered electronically through jail kiosks or tablets.
Current personal-mail format published by the Sheriff:

JailATM.com – Nueces County Jail
Inmate ID: Inmate Full Name
P.O. Box 16120
Jonesboro, AR 72401
Find the inmate ID first The Sheriff specifically directs senders to JailATM.com to locate the ID.
Use the inmate’s full booked name Do not use only a nickname.
Print the name and inmate ID clearly on the outside Missing information can result in lost or misdirected correspondence.
Remember that the letter becomes digital The vendor scans the personal mail and makes it available electronically.
Use JailATM for faster electronic correspondence The county states that electronic correspondence, including picture attachments, can also be sent through JailATM.
Legal and commercial mail follows different handling rules. Do not use the personal digital-mail address for attorney-client legal correspondence unless the jail specifically directs you to do so.
Commissary and inmate funds

Money uses Access Corrections and jail kiosks—not the mail ID workflow

Nueces County currently publishes four ways to send funds: lobby kiosk, telephone deposit, Access Corrections online deposit, or mailed cashier’s check/money order following the Sheriff’s specific instructions.
Lobby kiosk

Available 24/7 at:

  • Main Jail, 901 Leopard Street
  • McKinzie Annex, 745 N. Padre Island Drive

Accepts cash in $5 bills or higher and Visa/Mastercard.

Online deposit

Mailed-funds rules

Cashier’s checks and money orders only
No personal checks
Payable to “Inmate Trust Fund”
Include inmate DOB
Include Nueces SID, not State SID
Use black or blue pen
Do not hand money orders to the Jail Information Booth
Do not deliver money orders during visitation
Do not guess the special money-order mailing address. The Sheriff publishes a separate envelope example for cashier’s checks and money orders. Open the current Commissary page immediately before mailing so you use the live address and format.

Do not discuss case strategy over ordinary jail communications. Jail calls, messages and social visits should not be treated as confidential attorney-client communication. Avoid discussing witnesses, evidence, passwords, alibis or defense strategy.
Older booking and arrest records

Request the report from the agency that actually created it

The Sheriff may house someone arrested by Corpus Christi Police or another law-enforcement agency. A jail booking and a police offense report are different records.

Warrants and scams

Do not pay a caller who claims you must clear a Nueces warrant immediately

The Sheriff has published a local scam warning about callers impersonating deputies, using real employee names and claiming that the victim has a warrant for failure to appear. Do not provide personal or financial information because a caller knows the name of a real deputy.

A wrong booking entry and an eligible expunction are different problems

The information is inaccurate
  1. Identify which system contains the error.
  2. Save the booking, SO or case number.
  3. Obtain the controlling court or agency document.
  4. Contact the agency that owns the incorrect record.
  5. Recheck the District Clerk and other connected systems afterward.
The record is accurate but you want legal relief

Review Texas expunction or nondisclosure eligibility after obtaining the complete disposition.

Nueces County now publishes a county-specific expunction agency list for petitions and service.

Open Nueces County Expunction Information
Effective September 1, 2025, the District Clerk’s expunction page reflects the local agency-list requirements associated with Texas Senate Bill 1667. Use the live county page when preparing a filing because the agencies that must be listed depend on the arrest and case.

Useful local shortcuts

Six Nueces County details worth remembering

Roster down? Call instead.

For a recent arrest, 361-887-2300 is more useful than repeatedly refreshing an unavailable app feature.

Use JailATM for mail ID.

The Sheriff specifically points users there to find the inmate ID needed on personal mail.

Money uses a different number.

Mailed funds require the Nueces SID and specifically not the State SID.

Smart Search accepts booking numbers.

This is one of the most useful ways to connect jail information to the criminal case.

Visitor history matters.

A person who was incarcerated in Nueces County Jail within the last six months is not eligible under the current visitor rule.

Friday court-office access differs.

The District Clerk currently lists Friday as closed to the public, so do not assume a weekday counter visit will work.

10 roster questions

Nueces County Jail roster questions answered

How do I search the Nueces County jail roster?

Start with the Nueces County Sheriff’s official mobile app and look for the inmate feature if it is available in the current version. Because app availability and booking updates can vary, confirm live custody with Nueces County Jail Information at 361-887-2300. JailATM can help locate the inmate ID used for jail mail, while the Nueces County District Clerk Smart Search can search criminal cases by name, SO number or booking number.

Is there an official Nueces County current inmate list online?

Nueces County does not currently present its jail information as a simple browser-based alphabetical roster on the main Sheriff’s website. The Sheriff’s official mobile app has included an inmate feature, and the county publishes Jail Information at 361-887-2300 for current custody questions. Use the District Clerk Smart Search when you need the related criminal case rather than only the jail status.

How can I confirm whether someone is currently in Nueces County Jail?

Use the Sheriff’s current inmate resources first, then call Jail Information at 361-887-2300 when the booking is recent, the app is unavailable, or the housing location is unclear. Have the person’s full legal name and date of birth ready and provide the booking number, SO number or other identifier when known.

What information should I save from a Nueces County booking?

Save the inmate’s booked name, date of birth, inmate ID, booking number, SO number when available, booking date, charges, bond information and current housing location. Do not assume that the inmate ID, Nueces SID, SO number and booking number are interchangeable because different jail and court services request different identifiers.

Why is a recent Nueces County booking missing?

A person may still be processing, may have been released quickly, may be listed under another spelling, may have received a citation instead of being booked, or may be held by another county or agency. Call Nueces County Jail Information at 361-887-2300 and search the District Clerk criminal portal before assuming that no arrest or case exists.

How do I find Nueces County inmate charges and the court outcome?

Use the Nueces County District Clerk Public Case Search. Smart Search accepts a case number or a party name entered as Last Name, First Name. Advanced filters include date of birth, FBI number, SO number, booking number, case type, case status, filing dates and judicial officer. Open each case and review the Charge and Disposition Events sections rather than relying only on the original booking charge.

What are the Nueces County Jail visitation hours?

The current general schedule lists Saturday A through L from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and M through Z from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Sunday reverses those groups. Maximum-security visitation is Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Certain units have separate weekend or Tuesday and Thursday evening schedules. Check the official visitation page and current housing unit before traveling.

How do I send mail to a Nueces County Jail inmate?

Non-legal and non-commercial personal mail is processed through JailATM. Address mailed correspondence to JailATM.com – Nueces County Jail, include the inmate ID and full inmate name, and send it to P.O. Box 16120, Jonesboro, AR 72401. The inmate’s full name and ID must appear clearly on the outside. The mail is scanned and delivered electronically, and the original is destroyed.

How do I put money on a Nueces County inmate account?

The Sheriff’s Office currently lists lobby kiosks at the Main Jail and McKinzie Annex, Access Corrections online deposits, a telephone deposit option and mailed cashier’s checks or money orders. Kiosk and electronic deposits have published service fees and a maximum deposit of 300 dollars. Mailed funds must follow the Sheriff’s current instructions and use the inmate’s Nueces SID number, not the State SID number.

Can a Nueces County arrest or booking record be expunged?

Some Texas arrest records may qualify for expunction, and some records may qualify for an order of nondisclosure. Eligibility depends on the charge, disposition, waiting period and other facts. Nueces County District Clerk publishes a county-specific expunction agency list that should be reviewed before filing. Obtain the complete court disposition and use current Texas court forms or qualified legal advice.
